Chapter 1 The New Member

Zuzu Boyle's POV

September 5th 2017. Dear Diary,

I believe I'm a good person. You know, I think there's good in everyone, but here we are! First day of a new school year. I look around at these people that I've known through my whole life and I asked myself what happened?

Kids: Freak! Slut! Burnout! Bug-eyes! Poser! Lard-butt!

Zuzu: We were so tiny, happy and shiny, playing tag and getting chased

Kids: Freak! Slut! Loser! Short-bus!

Zuzu: Singing and clapping, laughing and napping, baking cookies and eating paste

Kids: Bull-dyke! Stuck-up! Hunchback!

Zuzu: Then we got bigger that was the trigger like the Huns invading Rome

(New Kid bumps into someone)

New Kid: (spoken) sorry

Zuzu: Welcome to my school, this ain't no high school this is the Thunder-dome. Hold your breath and count the days we're graduating soon

Kids: White trash!

Zuzu: College will be paradise if I'm not dead by June. But I know, I know life can be beautiful. I pray, I pray for a better way. If we changed back then we could change again. We can be beautiful

(New Kid bumps into someone else again)

Hipster Dork: (spoken) ow!

Zuzu: Just not today

New Kid: (spoken) hey are you ok?

Hipster Dork: (spoken) get away nerd

New Kid: (spoken) sorry

Kids: Freak! Slut! Cripple! Homo! Homo! Homo!

Zuzu: Things will get better soon as my letter comes from Harvard, Duke, or Brown. Wake from this coma, take my diploma then I can blow this town. Dream of ivy-covered walls and smoky French cafes

Ram: (spoken) watch it!

Zuzu: Fight the urge to strike a match and set this dump ablaze!

And that's when I heard a tray being smacked. I turned around and see a girl I don't recognize before get tray-smacked by Ram Sweeney; 3rd year as line backer and 8th year of smacking trays and being a huge jerk. The new girl picks up her tray dangling a small leathered pouch around her neck. She has brown hair up to her shoulders and wore a purple t-shirt with no sweater. She had black jeans with a belt that had a jeweled bull on it. The new girl had turquoise eyes and had a watch on her right hand "Why do you have to be such a bully?" she said quietly. I bet Ram could hear her when he looked at her in rage "What did you say to me Stank?" he asked. The new girl got a little freaked out and scooted away "Agh! Nothing!" she said heading off.

Zuzu: But I know, I know life can be beautiful. I pray, I pray for a better way. We were kind before, we can be kind once more. We can be beautiful

Celina: (spoken) hey

My sisters. Rin, Lulu, and Celina. We're called the Bracelet Sisters cause we wear bracelets on our left hands ever since we were little. Celina comes up to me first with a smile that I knew would happen "So Zuzu, you ready for the big night tonight?" Celina asked me in preparation. Tonight is where me and my soon to be boyfriend will have a movie night and will finally become a couple till we marry "I sure am" I replied in glee. Celina put her hands together in a rubbing movement "alright then. When I give out a specific title you have to tell me what you got" she said. I knew this might happened and I was prepared for it anyway "ok then. Snacks" Celina said quickly "Popcorn, pretzels, I used that red bowl to mix M&Ms, Skittles, and chocolate chips" I replied . Lulu gave me a thumbs up while Celina continued the list "alright, drinks" she replied pointing both ring fingers at me "Soda, Coca-Cola, water, and Gatorade"  I replied back. Both Rin and Lulu jumped up and down in glee seeing that it's getting good by the minute "alrighty, you got one more down. What movie did you pick?" Celina asked once more "I rented 'The Princess Bride'" I said. All they did was look at me like I spilled ketchup on my skirt. Ok so I watched that movie a couple of times that's ok right? "really? Don't you have that memorized?" Lulu asked. I think I'm starting to blush at that one "what can I say. I'm a sucker for happy endings" I said.
