The nerves are supposed to subside and the butterflies are supposed to just disappear. It's a guarantee, a sure thing. Don't worry about it. It'll be easy and it'll be over before you know it. It feels like it's been going on for hours, and no it's not easy.
Turn down the television. Turn up the television. Pace around room. Nervously rub hands together. Sit down. Stand up. Answer phone.
"Hello?"
"Hello, this is Coach Darryl Sutter of the Los Angeles Kings professional ice hockey organization. Is this Karson Blake?"
Deep breath in. Deep breath out. Wipe sweat off hands. Reply.
"Yes, sir. This is Karson."
Hold Breath.
"Then welcome to the family, son. We'll see you when camp starts."
