"This necklace," Chase comments, stepping towards me. He reaches out to lightly touch the cross clasped around my neck, his gaze dropping to the silver pendant. "You wear it to remind you that God's always with you, right?" His voice is barely above a whisper as he looks back into my eyes, his brown orbs softening. I gently nod my head as his eyes drop again. He presses the charm to my chest gingerly and retracts his hand away, allowing me let out the breath I didn't know I was holding.
"I carry her name around on my key ring because it's a reminder that she's always with me, even when she's not."
