The other day, an animated short film came out that featured a gay couple. This film is so adorable and the first time I watched it, I cried. I don't want to spoil what happens so I suggest you watch it.
So, why is this short film so important? This short film shows what it's like to fall in love with someone of the same gender. It's great representation for younger queer people. If I had this short film growing up, I would've been happier to see someone who feels the same way I do. I never had anything growing up that kinda said that it was okay to be gay. Because of this, I felt uncomfortable with myself and tried to change myself. If I saw this when I was little, I could've avoided that feeling. I know that some younger people will watch this, and grow up knowing that it was okay to be gay. They will avoid what I went through. Representation matters, especially when you're young. That's why short films like I'm A Heartbeat matter.
