Cast Away

I woke up again.

This time, I was blinded by the light around me. The smell of salty, humid air filled my lungs and left me with a bad coughing session. My face was burning because of the sunburn and so were my arms. The head splitting headache nearly made me jump off of... Wait. What am I doing on a lifeboat?

Ocean spread as far as the eye could see, clear, blue sky above and the scorching sun on my back. I was definitely cast away. How did I end up on a lifeboat? Wasn't I on my way to the helicopter?

That's when it all slowly came back to me.

The holiday cruise, the damsel, the betrayal.

How could he? Karan has been trusting me with his life since forever and so have I. So if it was him behind me landing in the lifeboat, why now? He could've easily done away with me on so many occasions before this. Everything was going on so well! There couldn't possibly be any reason to do this to me, much lesser now than ever.

My hands were shivering. My eyes, burning because of the salt in the air. My body aching because of the weird position I was lying in. If only to know why Karan did this to me, if only to see Arya once again. If only for Arya, I had to survive, I had to survive.

I quickly looked under the bonnet of the boat. They usually keep the essentials there. Thankfully, Karan had conveniently forgotten the trunk I just found. 15 canned food cans, 30 bottles of water and first aid in the first section. Pulling that out, I found two whistles and three any weather flare guns. Great, I thought. Might just survive a little longer after all. Before closing it, however, I dug deeper and found two packed high tech binoculars.

Might survive after all.
