Once I got to the emergency vet, I nearly ran down the hallway to find someone to help Jack. The poor dog was whining and twitching because his leg hurt so bad.
Finally, I got to the right room and dropped Jack off. The vet there, this time short with red hair, suggested an x-ray to so how bad it was.
I sat outside, waiting. Finally the vet (who had a name tag on, unlike Dr. Brown), Dr. Callahan, came out and told me the same thing that Dr. Brown said.
"Jack needs to have his leg amputated and very likely have a few other surgeries on it. It will cost approximately $5,000 in all." Dr. Callahan told me. My heart nearly stopped. I felt so bad for poor Jack. If only we hadn't decided to go for a walk!
