april's pov
"april, hon' bun, wake up." i hear shawn's voice and i feel his hand on my shoulder, lightly shaking me. i open my eyes and see he's to the right of me with my door open. "hey, sleepy head.""hi, bubbles." i laugh. i pull the seat back up and grab the bag from under my legs, throwing it over my shoulder. i get out of the car and shawn hands me a piece of paper. i'm guessing it's my ticket considering he is holding one too.
"erin just texted me, they just entered the park. looks like we're a bit behind, come on!" shawn says grabbing my hand and starting to run. i begin to run, not wanting to be dragged behind.
"shawn! slow down! i'm out of shape." i say as we head up the m&m stairs. he huffs before slowing down.
"come on! i'm excited! let's go!" shawn says releasing my hand and running up the rest of the m&m steps. he gets to the top and flashes a smile at me before running down the other side. shawn is an actual child. i love it.
"shawn, i swear to god." i mumble under my breath as i get to the top. i look down at the bottom and see shawn standing there, smirking. "god damn you shawn mendes." i say just loud enough so he can hear when i'm halfway down the stairs.
"april! hurry up! come on! let's go!" he says as i reach the end of the stairs, grabbing my hand once again. we get to the metal detectors, placing our stuff in the bin and handing the man our bags. i walk through and i'm cleared, i grab my stuff and my bag and head to the ticket person. she scans my ticket and has me scan my right index finger.
once both shawn and i get our bags checked, he immediately grabs my hand once again and we start running. "shawn i swear to god!" i say running along with him.
"we have to go on this ride now! before there's a long line!" he says as we take a left.
"just slow down! i'm out of shape!" i say, causing him to slow down. his grip on my hand loosens, only to intertwine our fingers.
we get in line for skyscreamer. basically, it's a ride where you're in a swing, swinging in the air at about four hundred feet in the air.
"are you scared?" shawn asks realizing i've been staring up at the ride. i'm more nervous than scared. i mean, what if something goes wrong with the chains and we all fall to our deaths? or what if the ride malfunctions and starts swinging us really fast and somehow we end up on the other side of the country?
"april? you ok?" shawn says breaking me out of my thoughts. i totally forgot about shawn's question.
"no. i mean yes. fuck. no i'm not scared and yes i'm okay." i say stumbling on my words. i look up at the front and realize we're going to be apart of the next set of people going.
"you ready?" shawn asks, throwing his arm around my shoulder and pulling me closer to his chest. my breath hitches. i nod not being able to get any words out.
"how many?" the employee asks once we get to the front of the line.
"two." shawn says, holding up two fingers.
"go on ahead number eight, enjoy the ride!" the employee says, ushering us towards the ride. we drop our bags off at the big bin before walking onto the platform. we go halfway around before reaching number eight. for each number there are two seats and unlike the smaller version of this ride, the two seats are connected.
"you ready?" shawn asks, once again after we get buckled into our seats.
"how many times are you gonna ask?" i say laughing before an employee begins talking on the intercom. before we know it, we're in the air.
