one's of life's enigmas
i think
is how when the future is uncertain
unsure
unknown
suddenly it is much easier to remember that time your grandfather bought you an ice cream cone when you were six
and you dropped it on the gravel accidentally
and forlornly watched the cracks fill and seep with the ice cream that should have been on your tastebuds.
what i mean is
when the future has an outrageous neon pending sign next to it
it is much easier
much less complicated
to think about a dropped ice cream filling gravelly cracks under the sepia 2004 sky,
than it is to think about what on earth might fill the cracks forming in your world to come.
