My third year was the year that Brian had came of age to go go Hogwarts. I remember sitting at the Slytherin table, waiting for him to be escorted in by Mcgonagal. This was going to be my third year at Hogwarts. I still talked to no one. I had no friends. Friends were a liability.
Now being thirteen, I was the teenager in the family. My mom still had hope that I was the perfect daughter and that I was worthy of being a Lestrange. I hated it so much.
Oh, and if you're wondering, Jeb disappeared the second year. No one knew why or how, but every one was expecting him to show up this year. He was nowhere. Was it my fault? I feel more guilty everyday. The only thing I had close to a friend slipped through my fingertips because I'm too temperamental. Stupid. He was honestly a nice kid...
Suddenly music started playing and I snapped back to reality. I turned and watched the grand doors opening. Mcgonagall walked in the first years. Brian was easy to spot. He was huge in height. I smiled when I saw him. That smile quickly faded when I had a thought. What will mom do to Harmony now that me AND Brian are gone? I swallowed down that fear and turned my attention back to the sorting ceremony.
The sorting hat began calling names. "Fox Parks!" A red hair girl walked up and sat on the stool. She looked slightly nervous, but she hid it well with a small smile. Mcgonagall placed the hat on her head. It thought for a second. "Hm...how about..Gryffindor!" Cheers roared from the Gryffindor table as she walked over and sat down. She was greeted by a petite boy with cropped black hair and glasses. He smiled shyly at her. She smiled back.
"Roar Parks!" A sister, I guessed. My first thought when she came out was that she was a...mess. A small, blonde girl came bouncing up the stool. She had a huge grin on her face as she tightened the straps on her hoodie. She kicked her feet back and forth. Fox was hiding her face in embarrassment. The boy across from her chuckled. "Your sister?" He asked. She nodded, still hiding her face on the table. "She's my twin." She muffled in response. They honestly looked nothing alike. Unlike Fox's beautiful green eyes, Roar had mesmerising red eyes. They looked shiny rubies. They placed the hat on Roar's head. "Gryffindor!" She smirked. "YESSS!!!" She exclaimed, tackling her sister.
Many more names went afterwards.
"Daya Filch!"
"Hufflepuff!""Styx Black!"
"Gryffindor""Brian Clovis!" I froze. Brian...Clovis?
I thought for a minute...he used a fake name. I watched as Brian plopped onto the stool, smiling. His blonde fluffy hair shaped around his face weirdly. Mom couldn't even cut his hair right. The anticipation was killing me. I would finally have someone to talk to. Someone I want to talk to. They placed the hat on his head. I'll no longer be alone."Gryffindor!" Cheers roared as he walked over to the Gryffindor table, practically glowing with happiness. His face dropped suddenly, and he turned and looked at me. I stared at him, pocket faced. He wasn't a curse. I was. I still am.
