Napstablook came running in, already sad, and already knowing why Frisk had screamed.
It was a photo of G and Papyrus, captioned 'Sans and Paps.' She looked at the photo in horror. "Is G.....Sans?!" she demanded, facing towards the ghost. He looked scared, assuming that she would run off somewhere soon. He nodded slowly.
Millions of questions flooded through Frisk. So G isn't really G? What about Kitty Cat? How many more secrets is he hiding? Who is Sans? Are they different or exactly the same? Why did he-
"To protect Papyrus." Napstablook said quietly. Frisk looked shocked for a moment, forgetting that he could read her mind. She was overcome with so many more questions it was impossible to speak.
"I......" she whispered, trying to voice her questions. Everything she had ever thought about G was completely thrown out the window. 'And to think...' she thought. 'I thought I loved him...'
Napst's eyes widened. "Y-You...l-love-" Frisk sighed, sitting down on the couch.
"I thought I did." She said, voice cold. Napstablook stepped away from her, taken aback at her sudden anger. Frisk felt wronged. Betrayed.
G was lying to her all this time. All along....he was Sans. Not G. Frisk didn't fall in love with Sans, she fell in love with G. And now...she learned G is...is nothing! Just a character! As if he were some fictional character that played with her feelings!
She put her head in her knees, not knowing that Napstablook had started crying. "Frisk..." he said gently. "I'm so...sorry." He reached out a hand to her, only to have it smacked away.
Frisk felt the tears coming. 'Come on, Frisk,' She told herself, desperately trying to fend off the waterworks. 'You're stronger than this.' She inhaled for a count of 4, held it for 7, and exhaled for 8. She did that repeatedly until the tears subsided before looking at Napstablook. When she did, she gasped.
"Oh my god, Napst, are you crying?" She said, instinctively taking a step near him. He backed away, sniffling. "Don't come closer! I have- it's the- acid tears." Frisk cocked her head to the side. "Acid Tears?" she repeated. It sounded like something from a child's sci-fi movie. Napst nodded sadly.
"When I cry, my tears are like acid to the touch. That's why I don't have many friends...I usually burn them." He said. Frisk nodded understandingly. 'Wait a minute..' she thought. 'Aren't I the one who's supposed to be crying? I need so much explanation!' Napst let out a sad laugh. "Yeah...I guess I do need to explain this."
They sat down, Napstablook hovering over the TV as if he were sitting on it; Frisk taking the couch. "About 3 years ago, which is approximately 50 human years ago, The skeleton you call G....he was a scientist." He looked over at Frisk, who was processing this.
"He worked with Gaster, Chara, and Alphys." Frisk gasped. G, of all people, worked with Gaster and Chara? She refused to believe it. G is.........'G is just a character' She told herself. "He's not a person."
"Why?" That single word that came out of Frisk's mouth was all she could conjure at the moment.
Why had G- no, Sans- worked with Gaster and Chara?
Why did he lie about everything?
Why-
"I know you have a lot of questions, but I can't answer them all without telling you the whole story." Napstablook said quietly. Frisk silenced her thoughts and hung her head low.
Everything was so confusing.
"Sans worked with Gaster and Chara because, at the time, Gaster was his idol. He wanted to do everything like him, be him. I knew this because I was friends with him at the time. So when Chara was looking for an assistant scientists, he jumped at the opportunity." He paused, his attention turning to Frisk, who was staring at him intently. He gulped, knowing if all her questions weren't answered, he was in trouble.
