Challenging Situation – Bullying [Look at me, please]
He was the boy nobody wanted to talk to, or be by, due to untrue rumours always spread about him. He was just over five feet tall, and an easy target for most bullies. The most threatening injury was a broken leg by ‘tripping’ down the stairs. Nobody knew what was happening or people just didn’t pay attention. He was the ghost in the school—he was the schools reject that nobody wanted to pay attention to. His name was Colton William; he had the pitch black hair, bright Brown eyes that had black ovals under them, from lack of sleep each night caused from worrying to much about the next day. He was a weakling—the boy with the small frame, and was tagged as an easy target—a boy who was scared to face what the next day had to bring him. He was the boy who didn’t like to go to school, the boy who was constantly scared.
“So, I heard you are gay,” His thick Australian accent came out thick with his choice of words. Colton just tightened his arms around his books, crushing them to his chest. This was Aaron, he was the one that broke the smaller boys leg, the one that caused him all the nightmares when he slept, the one who caused him to be scared at school. Aaron was the bully, the guy who always hurt the smaller boy. He was the total opposite of Colton, he had the built shape with his muscles bulging out of his tight shirt, and his features looked like he was blessed by an angel, with golden blond hair, ocean blue eyes, and the killer smile that won over all the ladies, and evidently Colton.
“Please leave me alone,” Colton said, he tried to make it sound confident and strong, but instead it came out a small, fragile whisper. This wasn’t anything new in fact. Whenever Aaron greeted Colton nothing good has happened, sometimes it would leave Colton with a black eye, or a bruised stomach. Did Colton do anything about it? No. Did he want to? Yes. Why didn’t he? Because it would only make things worse. That’s how he got a broken leg, that’s why everything got worse. He has to walk around with the worries that he could be getting pushed into a locker, jumped at random outside. Hes scared one day those ‘small’ beatings will escalate into something more, maybe he will be in the hospital next time? Or even worse. Dead.
“But aren’t I your best friend? You need to trust me.” He grabbed the smaller boy tightly on the shoulders, tugging him roughly into his side. Colton whimpered as Aaron's hand on his shoulder tightened. The smaller boy struggled to make Aaron remove his hand, but the taller boy wasn’t letting up, instead he started to chuckle—his accent could be deciphered from that too.
“Im going to be late for class, sorry.” Colton had mumbled before, painfully, tugging himself away from the death grip Aaron had on him. Aaron was the boy Colton first laid eyes on when he came to this horrid school. It was true indeed, Colton was homosexual. He couldn’t help what gender he liked, he just preferred males over females—but don’t get him wrong, woman are beautiful—he just didn’t look at them the same way he looks at guys. He thought about this often, barely anybody knew that he was gay, he didn’t tell anybody at the school which shocked him when Aaron first started calling him gay. Then he knew there would be a problem.
As the day progressed, so did the pushing, and taunting. Colton hated it, he couldn’t stand it when it happened. Even worse, he couldn’t help but feel crushed when it was Aaron doing it, it was Aaron encouraging the others to hurt him. It crushed him to know that Aaron will never return the feels he had for him. The small boy hated school. He was happy when the final bell rang singling it was time to go home. Colton walked quickly to his locker. It was to big for his short size, so he wasn’t able to put any books on the top shelf. Did it suck? Yes, because then the bottom of his locker would always get messy and it would leave him all the spare time he had in the morning after his daily run in with Aaron was finished.
