"So close no matter how far
Couldn't be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
And nothing else matters
Never opened myself this way
Life is our we live it our way
All these words I don't just say
And nothing else matters
Trust I seek and I find in you
Everyday for us something new
Open mind for a different view
And nothing else matters
Never cared for what they do
Never care for what they know
But I know
So close no matter how far
Couldn't be much more from the heart
Forever trust in who we are
And nothing else matters"
"Cassy?"
A voice pulls me away from the gentle, metal, melody. I open my eyes and look around. I am still in the black SUV as we drive into the night. I look at the clock at the dash board and see that it is 10:27 pm. How long have we been driving?
"Cassy I need you to take our your earbuds." Ashley says while motioning me to take them out. I take them out; I don't want to, but I am too tired for an argument that isn't worth fighting over. Besides, I already believe that Ashely is starting to hate me with a passion. That is the last thing I need on my list of things to worry about at the moment.
"Okay Cassy I need you to pay attention while I tell you what is about to happen. So....we are about 10 miles away from the group home. I believe I already told you the name, but it is Rose Girls."
Ewww. Already I am hating this place and I haven't even been there yet.
"So what is going to happen is once we arrive there, you will wait in the car as Jason goes up and makes sure that they are ready for you. Once the all clear is given, I will walk you up there and Caroline, the woman who owns the home, will help you settle in. However, there are very strict rules that you will have to follow. If not, sever consequences will have to follow."
"Yeah uhhhhh rules and I aren't really good friends. We tend to fight a lot. Sorry about your luck." I say in a sarcastic tone, trying to make some fun out of the situation. Ashley looks at me with a displeasing face.
"Please try and be serious Ms. Green. Anyways rule number one, absolutely no fighting is allowed under and circumstance. Rule number two, you will treat the other girls the way you want to be treated. Rule number three, you are not allowed to leave the house without telling Caroline and having at least one of the other girls present with you. Rule number four, you must take part in the daily talks and chores and eat at the nightly "family" dinner. Finally rule number five, no talking back to Caroline. She does have the right to call us and ask for us to place you in a different home if needed."
Great so it is going to be this kind of house.
As soon as Ashley is finished saying the rules, Jason has already parked the car in the drive way and went to the door to check the place out. As Ashely and I wait in the car, I began to take a really good look at the place I am suppose to be calling "home". It was an old Victorian style house with a white paint that was beginning to chip at the seams. The garden look a little run down with roses and lilies. The windows in the house were secured with black metal bars and the door had the same look to it. The house was surrounded by a white fence and there was a huge Weeping Willow that covered the night sky with its vines.
