When Mike woke up, the light was just starting to stream in through the window. He pulled himself up and to the bathroom, getting in the shower to find that they had no hot water, something he was used to already.

He washed in cold water, getting out and drying himself on a towel that smelt worse than he did.

His stomach rumbled as he went back to his room, reminding him that he hadn't ate since yesterday morning. He pulled his clothes on, choosing a shirt with long sleeves, for obvious reasons.

He found his favourite hoodie and pulled that on too before drying his hair and going downstairs.

The house was empty, as always on a mornng. He opened the fridge, seeing basically nothing.

He sighed and got some cereal out of the cupboard, pouring himself a bowl before sniffing the milk. Sour.

He ate his cereal dry and then picked his bag up, waiting for Billie.

When Billie turned up, they walked to school together like always.

"Had a good night?" Billie asked, but Mike stayed quiet.

They were in Maths, one of the many classes Mike and Billie had together. And Billie hadn't heard a peep from Mike all day.

He was worried, obviously, but Mike sometimes got like this. Billie thought it would be best to leave him alone but he needed to know why Mike was sad. So that he could fix it, and see him smile again.

He loved Mike's smile.

The bell went, and Billie groaned as he realised they had gym. Mike got up and they walked out.

"You got your gym clothes?" Billie asked him, and Mike stopped. "Is that a no?" Billie laughed, pulling Mike to gym.

Unknown to Billie, Mike had his gym clothes. It was just the realization that he'd have to get changed. In front of people.

Including Billie.
