“Jalix? Are you ok sweetie?” Jalix’s mom asked walking into her room.
“Oh, mom it’s you.” Jalix said putting down the pillow she didn’t realize she had in her hand. “Yea I’m ok”
“Why did you sneak out?”
“I just needed to take a walk and get some fresh air.”
“Well why didn’t you just tell someone, one of the guards or something. Just so that way I would know you were safe”
“I wanted to get away from the guards and the life of a princess mom”
“Oh,” she said “Well why don’t you spend a month in the village?”
“What?”
“We have cousins who live in the village you may stay with them if you’d like”
“Really?”
“Yes, I think you need a break from all of this”
“Wow, thanks mom”
“Oh and,” she said (I knew there had to be a catch) “Prince Rhys can come along with you!”
“Ummm how about no”
“Why not?”
“Did you not just see and hear my threats to him?”
“Oh, right.”
“Yea exactly”
“Well he’s going with you”
“Why do I have to be tortured?”
“He is a very nice boy Jalix; I don’t know what you have against him”
“He’s a complete jerk! I don’t know how you can’t see it!”
“He is a prince and was very nice about going out to find you today”
“Did you not think I wanted to be ALONE?!”
“Well…” she stopped as Jalix thought to herself, “I don’t think she has anything more to say, I think I shut her up for once…YES!!!” Then she started again. “DANG IT” she thought.
“Look if you want to be alone again at least tell us please, so we don’t get worried”
“Alright I will”
“I’m serious Jalix”
“I know you are mom I know”
“Good, because we love you and we don’t want anything to happen to you.” She started to walk out of the room but turned around. “You know you can trust me right?”
“Yea?” I said in a questioning tone as to where this was headed to.
“I mean in the way that you know you can tell me things, like you wanting to be alone.” She paused. “I’m not evil you could have just come to me and told me how you wanted to be alone and to go out by yourself, I would have accepted it and been fine with it.”
“I don’t think you’re evil I just think….” I trailed off. She actually didn’t know what she thought about her…she guessed she thought she couldn’t trust her for the reason being that she’s her mom and well it’s like a normal teenage thing that you don’t trust your parents to tell them things.
“Just?” She asked.
“I don’t know…but I will tell you stuff from now on”
“Great.” She said. “I love you Jalix, goodnight.”
“Goodnight” She left out the part about the whole “almost got rapped” thing. “I mean this doesn’t count right? This happened before I made the promise to tell her everything. This doesn’t count, this isn’t bad. I don’t have to tell her. This has nothing to do with my promise. I won’t tell her” Jalix thought to herself as she fell sound asleep.
