The journey to the village was not particularly long, only about 20-30 minutes. However to Jalix it was hours before they got there. Rhys or whoever this man was never stopped blabbing about something to do with sorcerers. Now the princess never minded a good socerer story but these were just, well ridiculous. He was talking about socerers as if they were actually real live human beings and that was impossible. So, was he crazy was he over thinking the old folk tale? The princess asked herself, why him why now at the most important and secret of times a robber finds a Prince in the exact spot where he knew he'd be. And yet he had no idea, no recollection of remembering who he truly was. Well either that or he's a REALLY good actor and I'm just bonkers.
"You know Rhys, you talk about sorcerers a lot more than the average prince." Jalix--like SHE knew any other prince's--said.
"Well yes they are very cunning and great at what they do"
"That is true." Jailx said "How much farther have we got until we get there?"
"Not far, look."
And she did. They were atop a hill that overlooked the village and it was beautiful. The village was small and quaint and right behind it was the mountains and it was just an amazing sight.
"Well come on then!" Rhys screamed from halfway down the hill. So naturally Jalix saw this as a challenge and took off as fast as she could down the hill and passed by both him and the village doors. She hid behind the door and awaited his arrival to her surprise she it took longer than expected but when he did come she jumped out and screamed in his face. He jumped up a mile and screamed back:
"Don't do that!" While breathing heavily. While Jalix just sat there laughing so hard she waa crying.
"Oh don't be such a baby!" She paused. "You didn't come running after me?"
"No, why on earth would I do that?!" He paused with a look she couldn't describe. "I mean, no I was tired."
"Okay...." she said eyeing him in suspicion.
They walked around the village because the princess insisted. She saw these children who looked different from everyone else and were rummaging through the trash.
"Hello there." The princess said coming up to them leaving the prince behind. They cowered away but she returned the gesture with a genuine smile and said:
"It's alright I'm not going to hurt you." The older child eyed her in suspicion but the younger one ran up to her saying
"Hi who are you? I've never seen you before. I'm Cattlya and I'm this many!" She said holding up five fingers then she pointed at the older sister and said "And that's my sister Jallene she's this many" this time she held up ten fingers. The princess laughed at her enthusiasm and said:
"Well hello there Cattlya and Jallene, I'm Jalix." And in that moment Cattlya went running to Jallene screaming "Jall! Jall! She has the same name as the princess!" Then running back to the princess "You have the same name as the princess!" Jalix put on her best surprised face and said
"Wow, I guess you're right Cattlya I never noticed that."
"Well I did cuz I'm smart that's what my mommy used to tell me."
"Where is your mommy?"
"She's not with us anymore and don't ask about our D-A-D" The older one Jallene cut in.
"Oh alright. Well why were you girls going through the trash? Are you hungry?"
"Yes very!" Cattlya said.
"Well I think I can fix that, come on." Jalix said with a smile. The girls took her to their favorite bakery that they used to go to when their mother was still with them. While the princess was having lunch with the girls she'd realized she'd lost Rhys. She paid the bill and paid for extra food for the girls, also bought them blankets for the night then was off to find Rhys. He wasn't very far but he was laying on a building looking extremely aggravated.
"What's the matter with you?" Jalix asked.
"YOU!" He screamed.
"Me? What'd I do?"
"You went and ran off with those little rats you call children!"
"Those what?!" She screamed back. "Those girls have lost their mother AND their father and you have the audacity to call them rats?!" He cowered away from her as she continued. "They are 10 and 5 years old! That poor little 10 year old was forced to grow up at the age of 8! NO little girl should have to do that! How DARE you?!" He walked towards her saying
"I'm s--"
"Don't you say you're sorry don't you DARE! Sorry is NOT going to fix this! Goodbye! It was horrible meeting you!" And she stormed off.
