Idana and Shadow flew side by side as they concored the mountain. The four birds hooted with victory as they spotted a large clump of trees by the horizon.
"Look out wolves," Loki smiled.
"Here we come!" Yaya finished. All of us high-taloned each other.
"I can't believe we have traveled all this way!" Shadow smiled at his friends. Loki, Yaya, and Idana smiled back at him. He knew he could trust them.
"How will we free the wolves?" Idana asked.
"I have a plan." Shadow answered, his eyes sparkling.

"What did you just say?" the wolf that had come to greet them at the edge of their territory asked. He had silver fur and green eyes.
"We have come to join your pack." Shadow repeated. The wolf laughed.
"You want to join us? You do know you feathery things are birds, right?" the wolf snickered.
"No, actually, we are owls, and-" Shadow was interrupted as Idana hooted:
"We can fight off mountain lions. We just did it the other day, as we flew up the mountain." She pulled out a tuft of cougar fur, and shoved it in the wolf's face.
The wolf's eyes lit up with surprise. "Really? Well, I guess if you can fight."
The owls silently hooted their triumph as the wolf lead them through the forest. They took many twists and turns until finally, they reached a secret clearing, a space surrounded by tall pine trees, a place only wolves knew about.
Shadow held back a gasp.
Wolves, thousands of them had been muzzled with a trap made of vines and twigs. They were all tied together in a large chain. They were much scrawnier than all the other wolves, which appeared to be the evil wolves.
"Those are our prisoners. They tried to kill us, tried to take over our land. But we sure showed them. We even killed their alpha." The wolf explained, following the owls' gaze.
Shadow couldn't believe his ears. The alpha, dead? How will the good wolves know that they are on their side if the alpha is dead?
The wolf explained many other things, asking if they could hunt. When they answered yes, he asked if they knew how to hunt caribou. He taught them, along with other wolves. He explained their names, his which was Kane, and the alpha's was Killer. Other wolves names were Nero, Dagger, Steele, Phoenix, Astral, and Laika.
As Shadow was perched on a tree in the clearing, Phoenix called from down below, "You getting the hang of things around here?"
"Yes, but its kind of confusing." Shadow answered.
"I could help." Phoenix offered.
"You don't have to-" Shadow was cut off as Phoenix ran off into the forest. He had know choice but to follow.
