HEART. My heart was beating erratically as I stood outside his large mahogany doors that led to his office. Why was I nervous now? I've entered this door countless times. What the heck is wrong with me today? Actually, no. What the heck is wrong with me every single day? I mimicked Sharpay Evans' way of calming herself when his voice suddenly boomed from his office. "You know I could see you from outside right?"

I froze from what I was doing. I felt my cheeks warm up again for only God knows how many times I've embarrassed myself today. How could I have forgotten? I searched frantically for the surveillance camera.

"Just get in the damn room, Welsch" he yelled, clearly annoyed. Sheesh. Someone's got a stick up their bottom. I composed myself before entering the room, and it still looked the same when I last went here.. which was just three days ago.. He owns the whole top floor so he's got all the space he wants. Huge one way windows surround his office while overlooking the city. A medium-sized suede navy blue sofa, a large bookshelf, a large desk, his office chair, and his own coffee machine. No matter how busy he was, the  files on his desk are always stacked properly and nothing was sticking out from the file. How does he do it everyday even when there're piles of work to do? That is the question.

He was wearing a navy blue suit, and brown shoes. He was looking outside of his windows with both hands around his back, and his feet apart. It took minutes before he talked, I almost thought he fell asleep standing. Do people even do that?

"Take a sit", he commanded without looking at me. The authoritative tone in his voice just gave me shivers down my spine. Honestly, what is he doing to me? I made myself comfortable on the sofa. I shouldn't let him do the things he does to me that he doesn't even know. Breathe, Tyra. Breathe. I kept my best scowl on, waiting for his next response.

He turned to face me and yet again my heart started beating faster. I can't. I shouldn't. I won't. His grey-blue eyes stared at me intensely that it made me shift uncomfortably from my seat. Although everything about him is so...put together, his hair, he likes it undone, which just made my heartbeat faster tenfold.

He strided towards me and bent down to my eye level with arms crossed. I had to inch away from him or else our lips would've touch.

Not that I would mind....

Shut it!

He trained his eyes on me and I rolled me eyes and yes, it is kind of disrespectful to do that to your billionaire of a boss but he's chill about it. Plus, I had to. To make him believe that I hated him, to which he did, but that won't let me stop doing it. "What is it that's so urgent that you had to call me, Ackerman? Have we signed up a staring contest?"

He glared at me, "I have a proposition for you" His minty breath fanned my lips. He straightened himself up to sit on the sofa across mine. "According to your resume, you are the undefeated champion of the chess competitions worldwide, yes?" I gulped. I don't like where this is going. I nodded. "Here's my proposition for you", He pushed the chess board, that has been laying on the table for a long which I of course barely noticed since entering this room, towards me. "If you lose, you'd do something for me without any question, comment, or fuss. If I lose, well... the choice is yours to make, Welsch"

I stayed quiet while stared blankly at him in the eye. I burst out laughing like a hyena. He crossed his arms again and gave me a heated glare. If looks could kill, I'd be gone by now.

"Y-you think y-you're going to win.. against m-me?" I said in between laughs. "N-no one's b-beaten me, and trust me when I say t-this. N-no one can" He just stayed quiet, still with the glaring. Oh well.

After I recovered, "Sorry, boss. No one can overmatch me. Playing with you would just be an absolute waste of time. Catch you next time" When I was about to leave, he said out of nowhere, "So, Tyra Welsch, the all-time chess champion, is backing out of a challenge?" I looked at him and he was smirking.

I scoffed, "I'm not backing out, Ackerman. You're a newbie. You'd just be a waste of my time" His smirk only grew wider, "Who said I was a newbie?" His smirk would've been panty-dropping for me, but no one insults me for backing out on a challenge. This time, I glared at him and wished I was Cyclops from X-Men.

"Fine", I gave in. He reached his hand out, "Deal?" I wasn't contemplating about my decisions at the moment because my mind was too distracted with his insult and his stupid smirk. I didn't think it through that whatever he had in mind, if I lost to him that is, might affect me in the worst or best possible way. I didn't think straight. I am a smart woman but with Silas Ackerman, my brain goes into an overload. All I knew was that I was hell bent on crushing his pride and wiping off that mischievous look on his face, and this is where I made a mistake. Or is it?

I placed my hand in his, "Deal"
