Darnell looked at Don waiting on his response.
From the way his eyes where bugged out of his skull, she knew she wasn't going to like the answer he was going to give.
Don got up from under Darnell where she was on his lap and stood up beside the bed. He had to make a decision to either tell the truth or lie. At the end of the day it was his word against Jennifer's.
Darnell tried not to let the fact that Don was taking so long to answer her simple question make her upset. Only thing she wanted was the truth.
"Don!" She called out when she noticed he started pacing the floor in front of their bed. He seemed like he was in deep thought. Darnell sat in the middle of the bed Indian style waiting for him to explain himself.
He looked up at her meeting her eyes. From what Darnell could see Don's eyes looked like they where filled with regret which made her sick to her stomach. What did regret doing? And what did it have to do with Jennifer?
Don tried to get his thoughts together. He didn't think Jennifer was going to actually reach out to Darnell. He knew by the question that Jennifer hadn't told her anything which was good but it wasn't going to help him anymore or less after he told her what was really going on.
"Jennifer came to the club about a week ago."
"Okay?"
"She told me that she had a three year old daughter."
Darnell was getting irritated by the second. It was like Don was beating around the bush. She just wanted him to say what he had to say and say that shit now.
"Was she looking for a job or something?"
"No. She told me that I was the father of her daughter."
"Wait wait wait." Darnell said shaking her head as she got up from the bed and stood up. She stayed a few feet away from Don because if she thought what he was saying was correct, she was bound to put her hands on him.
"How could you be the father of her child if you didn't sleep with her. Cause we've been married for 5 years and together for 7. So if she has a 3 year old daughter then that means that you fucking cheated on me mothafucka and I know that's not true. Tell me that not true Don!"
Don remained quiet as he watched Darnell begin to pace herself. He didn't know what to say. There wasn't anything he could say. He fucked up and he had to deal with the after math.
Don's silence answered Darnell's question clearly.
"When?" She asked.
"When what?" Don asked confused.
"When did you fuck her?!" She yelled irritated.
"Two years ago. When I went to Miami that weekend."
Darnell knew exactly what Don was taking about.
"I tell you that I want you home more and you go to Miami to fuck a bitch huh? That's how we work now?"
"No. I didn't go there with that intention. It just happened and I'm sorry. I would never cheat on you purposely. I was drunk. I didn't remember what happened until she came to the club."
"Not only did you fucking sleep with that bitch but you had unprotected sex with her. What if she had a fucking disease and you brought that shit home to me? And let me guess you was never going to tell me that you stepped out on me?"
