Two Weeks Later

It's been two weeks since I decided to get together with Dylan, and we have been on a total of zero dates so far. We've both been too busy to be able to go out. Dylan has been working nonstop on fixing his house. I have been busy babysitting the kids and fixing meals for the men helping Dylan out.

Today is just the same. The kids and I are outside in the backyard. The boys are playing some game they made up and Gwenn is making a crown from the wild flowers she found around the yard. I'm on the back porch, reading.

Gwenn puts her crown on her head and joins me on the porch. "Aunt Meli, can I ask you a question?" She asks.

"You know you can ask me anything. What is it?"

"When you and Uncle Dylan get married are you going to move into his house?"

Not a question I was prepared for, but I try my best to give Gwenn and honest answer. "Not when Gwenn, but if. I suppose we would move into his house. Why do you ask?"

"I'll miss you."

"I'll come to visit you and your daddy everyday when I'm leave, you know that. We can still do tons of stuff together."

"But it won't be the same. You won't be here to tuck me in at night or when I wake up."

"Yes, but I will be here during the say. I may even stop by to tuck you in every once in a while."

"Okay, you can move out."

"I'm glad I got your permission. Don't worry though, I won't be moving out for a long time." Gwenn goes back to playing with her flowers in the yard. I pick up my book and begin reading again.

Hours pass by and soon Danny comes to pick up the boys. We say a quick goodbye and they go.

Andy and Dylan both walk in, talking away like normal. Andy gets Dylan and himself a cup of coffee and steals some of the cookies I has just baked. They sit in the living room, now box free, and pig out on the cookies. Gwenn and I join them.

"So how much longer do you think the house will take?" I ask.

"I think we're just about done with it. Once the paint is dry, we'll install the new flooring and I think it will be done." Dylan says.

"Do you your furniture picked out already?"

"It's just a bunch of hand-me- downs from people around here, but I think I have everything I need."

"Not quote yet you don't." Andy says.

"What are you giving him Andy? It better not be anything of mine."

"Relax it's nothing of yours. It was Kelly's actually. Her parents sent it to me just after Gwenn here was born." Andy runs upstairs.

"Do you know what it is?" Dylan asks me.

"No clue. I wonder why he would get rid of it since it did belong to Kelly. He's usually such a packrat when it comes to her things."

"I've always had a tough time understanding some of the things he does."

Andy comes back downstairs with what looks like a large rug rolled up. He hands it to Dylan who unrolls it.

"I really don't think I need another rug Andy. My mom has given me like ten of them."

"It isn't a rug. It's a tapestry. Kelly's grandma made it for her just before her grandma died."

"I can't take this Andy. You should be the one to have it."

"You were Kelly's friend too, she would have wanted you to get something of hers. Plus it really doesn't match the odd decore of my house. It's too nice."
