"Danny?" I ask, riding up next to him.
"Yes?" Danny looks at me and I just stare at him. He looks back at me with the same loving stare. I finally snap out of it and ask him the question that has been playing on my mind.
"How long do you want to wait before we actually get married?"
"I would get married to you right now if I could, but we both know that's not what we want. I guess it depends on how much we need to get done before the wedding."
"I don't know about you, but I would rather have a simple wedding."
"You and simple are two words I rarely hear together, unless there's a "not" in the middle." Danny smirks, causing me to laugh.
"Hey! I can be simple when I want to be. Not everyone is as laid-back as you Danny."
"Would you rather I be high- maintenance?"
"No! I love your laid back attitude. I don't want you to change that, never. Well, unless you have a very good reason."
"Good, because I'm not changing. I'm me, and I'm not changing who I am for anyone."
"That's just another of those things I love about you."
"Hold that thought. I think I know all the things you love about me already, but I think it would be really sweet to put them in our wedding vows."
"So we're writing custom vows then?"
"If that's okay with you?"
"I love that idea." We pause our talking for a minute and just enjoy being in each other's company on such a beautiful trail. "Do you think we should have a fancy wedding?"
"Not really. I don't feel the need for something extravagant. It's not like we're trying to impress anyone. It could be a small wedding with just friends and family."
"And all our friends and family are here."
"What about your mom? Isn't she going back home soon?"
"Yes and no. She's going back, but only to move here."
"She's moving here? When did you learn about this? Why didn't you tell me sooner? Who's paying for her to move here? What does Jack think about the idea? How does Andy feel about her moving here? How do you feel about her moving here? Why am I asking so many questions?"
"Danny, only you can answer that last question."
"True, but what about my other questions?"
"Well, I suggested the idea to her just before I caught up to you so we could talk. She thought over it and she thought it would be a good idea. As for who is paying for her trip, that would be me, or us if we're married by then. I wanted to do something for her that was actually something I wanted to do, not felt obligated to do. I really want her to come here and I'm pretty sure Andy would love it too. All her friends and family are already here, it only makes sense that she moves here too."
"What about Jack? Would he like the idea of her moving here?"
"I honestly don't know. I know my mom loves the idea of seeing my dad every day, but I don't know how my dad feels about it. He doesn't seem to mind having her here right now, but he knows it's only temporary too. At least it was. Now that she's going to move here, that could make things more complicated than they were before. At a distance, my parents get along great. They've made amends. I just don't know what they'll be like seeing each other daily."
"When you say that your mom would love the idea of seeing Jack everyday, what do you mean?"
"I mean my mom still loves my dad. She just doesn't know how he feels about her. She doesn't believe he could ever love her the way he did before."
