Who is this new Morty?

On my way to school, mother and i actually had a genuine conversation. The subject suddenly changed.

"Your birthday is coming up, what would you like to do?" She asks while her eyes still payed attention to the road.

I look to her as a little smile forms on my face. "Um, whatever, i don't mind. I never did anything really on my birthday. It's just another ordinary day that brings us closer to our death."

As we stopped at a stop sign she looked at me like i just slapped her across the face. "Have you never celebrated your birthday before?" I shake my head.

"Oh my goodness! We have to have a big party! Go invite some of your friends, we will make the invitations tonight! Oooh this is going to be fun!" Her expression changed from gobsmacked to excitement in a click. I give her a fake smile and nod before getting out the car.

"Bye sweetie! Have a great day!" She waves as she winds down the window and blows a kiss to me. Why is she being so nice and weird all of a sudden? I wave bye before turning around and rushing into the school with my crutches beside me.

As I make it inside I almost get tripped over. It's Jessica. "Did you park in the disabled parking today?" She smirks. I get up and smile at her. "Hi how are you? Sorry the farm is that way." I say while pointing outside the door. Smoke comes out of her ears, but before she could speak a single word I cut her off by just walking off.

I walk down the hallway in slow motion it feels like, just like in the movies... except I'm crippled. I see Morty at his locker, he looks very confused on how to open it. I crutch over to him and give him a huge hug. He jumps before patting me on the back gently.

"So you're (y/n)? Correct?" He asks me with a weird and different smile.

"Um... yes? Your girlfriend?" I say awkwardly.

He laughs before slapping my shoulder. "I know I know I'm just messing with you! Come here gorgeous." He leans in and gives me a kiss.

"Wow Morty, you've gotten... better at kissing... OH! And you lost your stutter! That's great!" I smile before rubbing the back of my neck.

"Yes, my love and I did it all for you!" He embraces me once more before going back to attempting to open his locker. I look at him confused.

"Did you forget your passcode? I remember it, here let me put it in for you." I say quietly. He nods quickly before looking around. After I put it in the bell goes. We both sigh before looking at each other.

"Would you like to skip class with me?" He elbows me while a smirk gets plastered on his face.

I look around, seeing everyone going to class. "You? Skipping class? Who is this new Morty?!" I ask him sarcastically.

He looks at me in shock. Before looking down at his feet and mumbling something to himself. "Okay let's go to class." He says after shutting his locker door. Now I'm the one looking at him in shock.

"It was sarcasm, come on let's go."
