I moaned at the taste of my mom's delicious, homemade waffles with maple syrup. Breakfasts is definitely my favourite meal of the day. Veronica and mom laughed at me as I took my final bite of the delicious food.
"You enjoyed those waffles way too much." Mom laughed, sipping on her coffee.
"Maybe you should dump Archie and marry one of those waffles." Veronica joked.
"You're both very funny." I laughed sarcastically, while finishing off my own coffee.
"The lawyers are coming over this week to take our statements for your dad's hearing. We're both gonna have to testify on your father's behalf." Mom changes the subject.
"What if they ask about what he did? Embezzling all that money? Are we going to have to lie?" Veronica asks mom.
"Well." Mom sighs, giving us am apologetic look. "We might have to shade the truth a bit."
"Mom?" I asked in worry, watching tears build up in her eyes.
"Baby, I have just made a mess of things. Your father found out about Fred and me." She admits. "Someone went to him before I got a chance to say anything..."
"Oh, my God, Dad knows?" Veronica cuts her off.
"Yes, and on top of that, the Blossoms are still after the drive-in land, and Fred still doesn't know that we own it." Mom pinches the bridge of her nose in frustration.
"Maybe it's time you tell Mr. Andrews the truth." I advice her.
"And risk having him walk off the project? We've bet everything we have on the SoDale construction." Mom explains.
"Mom, this is a small, gossipy town. You need to tell Fred about the land before someone else does." I warn her, before giving Veronica a look of concern.

I made my way out of Maths, there was a skip in my step knowing it was lunch time. I hadn't seen any of my friends, until I spotted Kevin and Veronica down the hall. They looked like they were having a serious chat by the looks on both their faces.
"What's going on?" I asked, slowly approaching them.
"Apparently we're giving Ethel a pampering." Kevin tells me, giving Veronica a confused look.
