Chapter 55: Soft words

Yato POV

It's been a week since Y/ns been sleeping. To be honest I thought it would be a bit easier but, I was wrong. It makes no sense around the house and Y/d/n has been crying without her. It hurts so much seeing the ones I love in pain.

Yukine and I were sitting across from each other while he played with Y/d/n. "No, this is mine." Yukine said and laughed. Y/d/n touched his face and reached for the stuffed animal. "Give it!" She shouted in a squeaky voice. I smiled at them and stood up before heading to the kitchen. Hiyori was busy making an early lunch while Takeo helped her. "Hiyori, thank you." I said softly and rested my head onto her shoulder. "It's my pleasure." She said. I walked away and looked back to see Yukine and Y/d/n still playing. I'll be back soon. I left the shrine and found myself standing infront of Daikoku and Kofukos shrine. I walked in uninvited like I usually do and sat down on the floor.

Kofu spotted me and sighed. "Yati, you can't always come here when you feel this way." She said and hugged me. I forced out a smile. "I don't want to be there." I said truthfully. She let go and sat next to me. "I know. Yati, please just talk about the you feel. You haven't yourself lately." She said and handed me a cup of tea like she knew I was coming. "Thanks." I said and looked down. She sighed once more and smiled. "Stay as long as you like." She said walking away. This isn't getting me anywhere. I stood up and felt a hand one my shoulder. "Sit down, we need to talk." Said the voice. I sat as he told me and faced Daikoku.

Daikoku POV

I looked at Yatos bloodshot eyes like he's been crying or loosing sleep. "You have to let her go for now." I said. He clenched his fists. "How, am I suppose to do?" He asked rudely. "Look, I don't know what you're feeling. I know that it must hurt but, stop thinking about it too much!" I shouted and slammed my hands onto the table. He looked down and shook his head. "If it's that easy, then why isn't it working?" I asked. He sniffed and chuckled. "Everytime I go into the shrine, I want to see her. I want to hold her and kiss her. It's my fault she's like this. If I didn't protect her and if-" He got cut off by his own tears. "Yato, it's okay." I said. "It's not okay. She's not okay and i'm the one to blame!" He shouted and looked at me. I widened my eyes as I saw him like this. I felt a bit sadded by this side of him. "I can't ever let her go." He said softly and placed his hands on his head. "I-I'm so, lost without her." He said. Should I ask him for a beer? "Yato, lets go for a drink." I said and he lifted his head. "Really?" He asked. He forced out a smile. "I knew you were a nice person." He said. I grunted and stared blankly at him. Maybe, not...

Later...

Yato was having his third deink while I stayed on my first. "I feel like I've done this before." He slurred. He opened his mouth and laughed. "That's when..." He trailed off. "When Y/n went missing." He said. "That was a long time ago." I said and he laughed. He gulped down his third beer and his face flushed red. This is going to be a long night.

We talked about things and he opened up about how everyone blamed themselves when he thought it was his doing. I tried to tell him that it wasn't but, everytime he would act like a child. He stood on the table and burped into my face saying that it was his fault until I finally agreed. "I'm sorry." He said as he rested his head on the table. I looked at him as he fell asleep. I sighed and stood up grabbimg his collar. I picked his lazy ass off the chair and carried him to his shrine.

Yato POV

"...yeah...okay,thanks." I heard voices. I opened my blue eyes to see myself on the couch in my shrine. My head felt heavy and I really needes to vomit. "Yato, go sleep you drunk." Yukine said coming into view. I sighed and sat up. "Yukine..." I trailed off. "Go sleep off the alchol." Daikoku said in an angry tone. I looked up as him as the light his my eyes I looked down. Way to bright. "Fine." I said and stood up before I almost fell over. Yukine held me up and walked me to my bedroom. He pushed me inside and I fell onto the bed. My face into the pillow as I got angry for all of this.

I turned around and looked at the sleeping girl. Her Y/h/c and her soft face was what I saw. She's my answer to perfection. "Y/n, I hope you're well." I said. "You know that I think about you a lot. I never thought that sleep would come in our way." I said and moved closer to her. "My day was fine but, I was worried about everyone." I said saddly. I placed my arm around her and kissed her head. "I love you." I said and closed my eyes with her in my arms once again. Sleep well.

Your POV

Stuck in the dark was really scary. I was by myself. It hurt to know that the world around me was changing. That was until I heard a familair sound. "Y/n,  I hope you are well." It spoke. Yato? Yes! Are you okay? I tried to speak but, nothing. "You know that I think about you a lot. I never thought that sleep would come in our way." He spoke again. I think about you too and please don't be worried. "My day was fine but, I was worried about everyone." He spoke again. No, Yato. I'm fine. Please! Hear me! "I love you." I heard. Yato...I love you. Please just hear me! Yato!

I felt warmth around my body. My eyes wanted to open but, I couldn't. Not yet. "Mmm..." I trailed off trying to talk. Yet nothing works. Please...
