I was perched on the windowsill in my living room, that viewed out to the front lawn.
I was laying on my belly, reading, when I heard a sound of a truck pull up across the street.
I looked outside curiously, and saw a boy who looked older than me, and a woman. One of my eyebrows when I saw my sister over there, "helping" the neighbor unload the truck.
She had one short shorts, and a plaid shirt that tied up right underneath her boobs exposing her mid-drift. I laughed when she went to pick up a box, but failed.
Watching her struggle with the box was entertaining me, when I saw him. He was shirtless, and his hair was shaggy Brown and was swept to the side but kept short.
His body was, how my mother would say, "muy delicioso". My cheeks grew red, and I slipped off the seal and ran to my room in slight discomfort.
~~~~~
"Lyric!" My mother yelled, waking me from a good nap I didn't know I was even having.
"Yes?" I mumbled back. I got up, and shuffled to open my door. I was only semi aware of my surroundings.
Standing outside my door with a baked peach cobbler, she said, "I need you and Harmony to take this to the neighbors that just moved in across the street from us."
"Ugh, really mom?" I groaned, tired.
She made a Stern face at me, before grabbing my ear. "You listen here young lady. I will be the good neighbor in this crusty, ran down joke of a neighborhood and you are going to behave. ¿Està claro?"
"Ah! Sí mama, sheesh." I whined, before she let go of my poor ear.
A large smile spread over her face. "That's my girl!" She pulled me in for a tight hug, that I returned with a smile on my face.
"Alright get to it!" She yelled before going down the stairs.
"Bipolar old lady." I whispered to myself.
"What was that?" My mother yelled, halfway down the stairs.
"I love you Mom!" I yelled.
Before I closed my door to get ready, she said, "that's what I thought. Wouldn't want to have to go down the stairs and get my old switch."
~~~~
My wavy hair was left down, and I threw on some shorts and a long-sleeve shirt, before grabbing the pie and charting down the stairs.
Harmony was there, the same getup she sported earlier today was still on her.
"Let's go!" She smiled, too eager to see that boy again.
~~~~
I rang the doorbell, trying not to show how nervous I was. Would he answer, or would his mother or his older brother answer?
His mother answered, a bright smile on her face. She was drying her hands off with the towel And the faint smell of chicken tickled my nose.
She was a beautiful, hard built woman. She was at most 5'10 with long black hair and forest green eyes.
"Why hello there! You must be home in his little sister." She directed at me, having already met Harmony earlier today. "Come in, come in."
We followed her to the kitchen, before she yelled, "boys! Get down here right now!"
Two minutes later, the older boy who was unloading the truck with Harmony came from a door, and the younger one bounded down the stairs.
"Boys look! It's the neighbors, and they brought us a pie!" The woman buzzed with excitement.
"This is my oldest, Scott, and my youngest boy Chase. My name is Mary, by the way."
"It's very nice to meet you." I said shyly, shaking her hand. "My name is Lyric."
Scott smiled at me, and Chase looked bored out of his mind.
"My boys will be starting school tomorrow, I hope you girls won't mind looking out for them."
"Of course not Mrs. M!" Harmony said fiercely, all but too excited to be put up with the task.
"Please, have a seat and enjoy some of this pie with us?" Mary said, my sister already at the table before she could finish asking.
I followed behind more hesitantly. I took a seat next to Harmony who sat across from Chase, and I sat in front of Scott. Mary was at the head of the table, and for some reason I felt as if that's where she belonged.
While idle conversation was taking place, I took a peep at Chase. It was the boy I had noticed earlier today.
He had a very Define, tan face. His cheekbones were to die for he had to have been the most gorgeous person I have ever laid my eyes on.
Instead of green eyes like his brother and mom shared, he had stormy gray ones. They were very beautiful.
He looked up at me, feeling the weight of my Gaze on him. I threw a friendly smile at him, and he scowled at me, before completely ignoring me.
I I frowned down at the pie my mom made, wondering why everyone seems to have their panties in a bunch today.
