Listen to You Again by Huey Mack
I woke up earlier to prepare for my.... date? With Greyson. Meet him at the ice cream shop, then head over to the beach. He was planning on riding his bike as well, so I didn't have to worry about being stuck in a car with an almost stranger.
"Wow, you usually get up this early? Just barely 7:00," I heard a groggy voice coming out from the guest bedroom as I walked through the hallway. (Thank goodness my parents were on a vacation, they'd freak to know I let a random guy stay at our house)
"Naw, not usually. The norm for me is like 9:00," I laughed.
"Same there."
"Did you sleep alright?" I glanced away shyly as O'rien slung his legs over the side of the bed and stretched his bare arms over his head.
"Oh, yeah. This bed is amazing."
"Glad you had a good night," I grinned and continued down the hallway.
"Hey, Cat?" He called after me.
I paused. "Yeah?"
"Where you headin'?"
"Oh I'm just going to meet a friend."
"Cool," he came out into the hall, a clean t-shirt I pulled from my dad's drawer now on. "Maybe I could come? Start meeting new people if I'm gonna be staying in this town awhile," O'rien gazed at me hopefully.
"Umm, actually, er, I don't know how long he'll be around either. We kinda just met and planned to get ice cream and hang at the beach, to get to know each other, ya know?"
"Oh. Ohh!" O'rien looked flustered and took his turn blushing. "Sorry, I didn't mean to try to intrude on your date."
"Oh it's fine. And I don't think it's a date, anyways...."
"Not a date. Hmm. " O'rien raised his eyebrows and chuckled.
"Uh yeah.... If you want to get an ice cream with us though, that'd be cool."
He tilted his head slightly. "Sure, why not. And I might as well meet this guy....?"
"Greyson."
"Yeah, Greyson. Meet him and see what I've got to compete with." O'rien gave a sheepish, goofy grin, reminding me of Greyson's sweet wink, making me blush yet again.

A few hours later, me and O'rien were seated outside at a colorful patio table.
"Late. The guy's late for your first date together." O'rien kept glancing at his ratty, leather watch every couple seconds.
"We've only been here for 4 minutes, O'rien. He's not late; we're just super early. And like I said, it's NOT a date."
"Just keep telling yourself that." O'rien leaned back in his chair. "When he leans in for a kiss or then try's to take advantage of you, then you'll get it-not that I'll let that happen to you. But anyways, It's obviously a date. Don't worry though, I've got good intuition, if he's a bad guy, I'll get him outa here in a blink."
I frowned. "Really. Well so do I, and I'm pretty sure he's a great guy."
O'rien shrugged. "Well, I bet he ain't as good looking as me."
"Hmm, confident much? Reminds me of an arrogant jerk I know. And no, he's not as good looking as you-"
"Ha! Knew it!"
I laughed, "he's better looking than you."
"Whaat?? Nope. Impossible."
I just laughed again and rolled my eyes.
"Hey Cat?"
"Yeah," I answered, raising my eyebrows.
"That 'Greyson' dude of yours is now over 6 minutes late. I just wanta get some ice cream already"
I laughed again and shook my head at O'rien's lack of patience.
