Awoke - Chapter 1

      I started to wake up slowly, my vision wasn't in focus. I looked around the white room confused. I  tried to sit up. I lifted my head, but gave up and let my head fall back on the bed. My vision slowly came back. I started to notice objects around the room. A chair, a window, plastic flowers, and a door. "What the fuck happened?" I mumbled to myself. My vision was almost completely back. I tried to sit up again, this time I actually did it. It took some effort. I looked around again questioning everything. I couldn't remember anything important.  Nothing from my memories answered why I was here. I groaned. 

     Then, the door swung open and to my surprise, it was a familiar face but I couldn't put my finger on it. "A-Avery..? Oh my god you're awake, thank god," She said wiping tears from her eyes, I suddenly had a flash back of some stupid moments with..."K-Katie?" I manage to choke out. "O-oh my god! Hold on Avery I'll be right back, okay?" Katie said "Alright," I said as she closed the door. A few minutes later Katie came back into the room with "P-Paxton!" I yelled with tears forming in my eyes, while Katie walked out of the room. "Avery...Oh my god Avery! You're awake!" He said running toward me with tears in his eyes "Pax. What year is it?" I ask him. Paxton looked at me tears running down his cheeks, and his expression blank. "Ave, Its 3028. You've been in a coma for years. God I missed you." He quickly wiped the tears off his face, as if he didn't want to show emotion.

     "God damn. Wait, Pax how old are you? How old am I? Am I real? Are you real?" I said, questioning everything again. "Calm down, I'm still all bone and flesh," He laughed, "Alright...Still you didn't answer my other question. How old are we?" I asked. "Well, you're 22 and I'm 23. You've been  gone for so long. You were 14 when you got into that coma. 11:03, December 31st, 3020 N.A. Till now." He looked out the window. "Damn. What the fuck happened? Where the hell is everyone?" I asked Paxton, while looking outside. Dark clouds filled the sky like cigarette smoke.

     Paxton stared out the window for a few more moments and then back at me. "You don't remember? How could you not? You got in a coma by.. well. I- You feel and tripped on a rock. It was sharp, and a bronze color." He sighed. Why did he stutter.. he doesn't usually do that. I thought. "Wow I knew I was clumsy but damn. Anyway. What the hell happened to the world? It never was this dark out all the time." I asked him. "We happened." He mumbled. "Fuck we should of planted more trees." I laughed. He smiled back at me, letting out a little chuckle. "Haven't seen you laugh in 8 years Avery. Good to know you're back. I suppose you should rest. It better not be 8 years into the future before you wake up again," He smiled, and stood up. "I won't be far if you need me. Katie is here for you too." He walked to the door, looked over his shoulder and walked out looking for Katie. 8 years is a lot of time. I sure missed everyone, a whole fucking lot. I thought to myself smiling.
