A/N: Okay so, I finally got off my lazy booty and wrote a bit more. Alright, I'll leave it to that!
I woke up and realized that I'd fallen asleep and so had Annabelle. She lied next to me, lightly snoring and I was careful when I got up. I walked around a little when I heard a knock on the door.
I tiptoed to the door and without warning, police busted in with search dogs and angry faces. I must've screamed because I remember Annabelle waking up, startled.
"We have a source who had told us that you sold drugs here? Illegal drugs?" The officer who had a crooked nose and a lazy eye questioned me. I stood there speechless and helpless as Annabelle got up off of the couch and made her way towards me. "Is that true or not?"
Annabelle and I looked at each other, scared of what to say next. I've never dealt with the cops before and this was nerve-wracking for me. Another cop who was young—maybe 19 or 20—started rummaging around her home. He went to the couch where we stashed all of our empty beer bottles and came back with a couple.
"Do you guys have ID?" The officer pushed on, giving no signs of kindness or compassion to us. Aren't they suppose to try to talk you into telling them the truth?
Annabelle pulled out her wallet and handed him a fake ID, hoping it will pass but the officer threw it on the ground without a second glance.
"You two are coming with me," he implied sternly. The young officer grabbed our arms and pushed us out of the door.
We rode in the police car for an hour at least until we reached the station. They put us in cells and locked us up saying we were detained for twelve hours but they said they had no evidence of drugs in Annabelle's house and could not press charges but in that long, my mom would start panicking and when she comes to get me, she'd probably end up yelling at me again. Annabelle, on the other hand, seemed really calm. Maybe she's still a little stoned and wasted from the stuff we had.
After what appeared to be about five hours, I heard footsteps approaching and finally, an officer started unlocking the door.
"Okay, free to go," he mumbled. It most surely had not been twelve hours, unless someone bailed us out... I expected it to be my mom who bailed me and Annabelle and she'd get really upset with me but instead, I saw the shadow of two guys—Lucas and Ross.
Lucas appeared to be sober now and Ross, with a frown upon his face. I knew he was disappointed but yet, I basically ignored him and slid past him but he caught my arm in a tight grip. I tried shaking him off but he wouldn't budge. Annabelle on the other hand, ran into Lucas' arms and he engulfed her in a tight embrace. I guess they're together again.
They left arm in arm while I stood there with Ross' hand gripped around my forearm. I wriggled my arm finally out of his grasp, finding a large red mark on my right arm.
"Why?" Ross finally spoke up, his hair sort of dangling in front of his face, shadowing his eyes, those perfect, gleaming eyes. "Why would you harm yourself like that? Let yourself break, heal, then break yourself again?"
After asking that, I froze but Ross left. He just tucked his hands away in his pockets and walked out the door. As if I hadn't been through this before. My dad, Daniel, and now Ross. There hasn't been a time where I wasn't abandoned and left to drown in sorrow alone.
I casually strolled out, noticing police officers glancing my way as I made my exit. I took a left and headed for home. The last place I'd ever want to be in but I didn't know where else to go.
