Camila Camberle's POV
I get out of the car, and walk to the front steps. I sit on the first stair and wait for Andy and Emily. I see a whole bunch of buses pull up, and I look for bus 157. That's Andy's bus of course.
"Camila!" I hear Emily squeal.
"Em!" I squeal back.
"Is Andy's bus here yet?"
"No I couldn't spot it. I can only imagine how magnificent she looks. It's our first year of high school, she better have put on at least some adidas."
Emily and I continue our conversation, laughing about how amazing Andy will look. But most important swooning about how hot Dylan was, or in Emily's case Blake. Andy never really liked anyone. Except for in third grade, she was a total girl. Haha, poor Evan Jerly. I sighed. Good times, good times.
Once again I looked up to find Andy's bus, but all I saw was a beautiful creature staring right back at me. The Dylan Flery. If only I was good enough for him. He's a total swoon. Blake popped up from behind him, and I could hear Emily's coo. We both sighed simultaneously. The boys started walking our way. Emily and I quickly started up a conversation. But just as the boys approached us, Andy came running up.
"Andy! Oh my lord I miss you so much. I haven't seen you since last week!...what are you wearing?" I gasp, looking down at Andy's ripped jeans and green tank top, "Never mind you're cute as a button!"
"Thanks Cami. I love being compared to buttons. Hey Em, how was summer. Dylan, looking the same. Blake, still a mystery. Wait a second, Dylan, why are you staring at my best friend. She's mine! Are you two a thing? Kill me now." Andy says, I didn't even have to look at her to tell she was rolling her eyes.
"See ya around Cami." Dylan winked.
Blake followed, with a nod. I really want to think about how Dylan and I are obviously going to get married, but Andy's here! I grab her and Emily's arms, and we walk down the hall. All eyes are obviously on us. Two cheerleaders, and their perfect best friend. Um, what isn't to love. Hoots and hollers come from the crowd. Our smiles could probably light up this dim old town. Everything was perfect, but things just got real...
"Hey Camila! You'd be a lot hotter if you weren't friends with that loser." A voice called out, the football team laughed.
"Looks aren't based on friendships, Andy's my boo. Whether you like it or not." I reply.
"Even if it slims your chances of being with Dylan?" The voice called back.
I could feel the anger rushing to my mind. You're ok, you're ok. No I'm not. I follow the voice and the laughs. I come across the football team and none other than the one and only Evan Jerly. I thought he would have changed. I saw Dylan, he was laughing with the rest of the boys. I looked at him in disbelief, I could feel his guilt. I could hear people crowding around us. Andy tried to hold me back, but I had to do what I had to do.
I've been trying really hard to control my anger problems. But they always get the bet of me. And today they have me in the principal's office, for punching Evan Jerly in the stomach. It wasn't even that hard so I don't understand the problem. Plus he didn't have to say all those things in the first place. The office door opened, and I expected my parents to be very disappointed. But it was Evan, with a box of brownies. He looked at me and smiled. Damn was I confused. Oh sorry, excuse my French.
"I'm sorry Camila, if I didn't say those things none of this would have happened. I guess I'm just jealous. You're on the cheer squad, so you get loads of attention. You're best friends with a band geek, and you absolutely don't care what anyone thinks. And you like Dylan Flery, and not me. The only way to get your attention was to, I guess say those things. I know it was totally wrong, so I'm not going to have the school tell your parents." Evan said, handing me the box of brownies.
He couldn't look at me. He was embarrassed. I couldn't tell if this was genuine or his parents were forcing him to do this. Either way, it was really sweet. But, I always remember to keep my friends close but my enemies closer. So, I went up to Evan and hugged him. I squeezed him so tight, and I knew how much that hurt him.
"Thanks but, I don't regret what I did. I've been waiting to do it for a while. Oh and thank you for the brownies." I whisper, standing a little to close to his ear. I could feel him shiver. I strutted out of the office, but didn't forget to look over my shoulder. Evan's face was brighter that Emily's favorite lipstick.
