Chapter One
Nichole's P. O. V.
"Were almost home girl's" I heard looking up from the book I was reading from the back seat of the car. My pregnant mother who smiling back at me. I gave her a fairly weak smile. I still couldn't believe my mom let David pick the house out. The whole moving from one place to another alone, really scared me. She seemed so happy.
But my step sister on the other hand took the moving thing a little bit worse than me. She and I were really close we never really fought or got into arguments a lot. Her names Lauren, she had long black hair and blue eyes, like me. I've always looked up to her, wanted to be more like her. She was thinner than me, and from the looks of it you'd think she was truly the perfect child. She was popular, had lots of friends, cheerleader, good grades.
Me on the other hand, I got really good grades, but I didn't really have any friends. I didn't go out to parties like Lauren did. My mother likes to take me to therapy sessions because she thinks my antisocial personality is an actual disorder. She thinks because I'm turning eighteen in five months, that I need to get a boyfriend for the first time. That I need to start going shopping on my own and not have Lauren drag my outside the house.
Now I didn't completely disagree with her. A little bit more fresh air wouldn't kill me.
About five minutes later we pulled up to the driveway our our "new" house.
The house was huge. I didn't understand why is was so large. We didn't need this much space.
We all got out of the car and looked at this mystery house for a moment before David broke the silence between the four of us.
"Well guys what do you think?" He spoke a little to proudly of what he had brought us to.
Immediately after David said that I knew he wanted to take it back after the long line of unwanted comments were coming his way.
"David what the hell is this?" My mom spoke out but was then interrupted buy Lauren.
"Where the hell is the new house? Cause this sure as hell isn't it." After she said that is was her and mom obviously tag teaming against David.
"You know we have a little one on the way, we can't have a baby living in these kind of conditions."
"Yeah David, how's the baby even gonna breathe in this dust basket? Better yet how are we?"
"What happened to we deserve the best and you'd stop at nothing to get us the best?" And after that mom and Lauren started to walk to the front door.
David looked at sympathetically. "And you?" He asked me as if he wanted to hear more of what he just got fired at.
I shook my head no and started to walk up to the front of the house.
David walked past us to turn the key to the 'new' house.
We all walked in. I was last. But as I did a icy sensation pasted my body, like a as if the temperature had dropped as I entered the door. I shivered a little.
"Whoa, Nichole your cold? It's like 90 degrees in here. Were gonna have to turn on the AC." David spoke walking down the hallway and up the stairs. I followed the rest.
"Honey how many rooms is the house?" Mom spoke a little out of breathe from all the stairs.
"It's a 7 bedroom, but I'm sure it has more." David answered back.
