Prompt: "Can you do a fic where Troy and Ally break up and Ally comes running to Mani for comfort and then they kiss and stuff?"
Title from "One Wish" by Fifh Harmony
"Hey, Ally - I need to talk to you..."
Troy's soft voice floated through the phone and into Ally's ear. They were a long ways apart, so there was some interference, but Ally was still glad to hear him. She missed him, she really did, and just talking to him made her feel better. "Hey, Troy," she said, smiling. The rest of Fifth Harmony all hollered a little bit when they heard Ally say Troy's name, but she just made a face at them and left the room, hoping to be as alone as she could with him.
"Listen, Ally, I - there's something that's been bothering me for a while."
Ally stiffened a little bit. She really didn't like his tone. For a girl her age, she'd watched more than her fair share of dramas, and the voice he was using was the cliche "I have really bad news and you won't like it" voice. "I'm listening," she said, sitting down so she wouldn't faint or something when he told her what he needed to say. "Are you okay? Is everyone back home okay?"
"Yeah, yeah, everyone's fine," he said hurridly. "No, what I want to - we need to talk about us. Just us."
"What about us? We're fine." When he didn't say anything, she added, "Aren't we? We're fine, right?"
He still didn't say anything, and Ally could swear her heart stopped. "Oh my god. I've messed up, haven't I? I'm so sorry. Was I supposed to call earlier? Oh, god, Troy, if I did something wrong-"
"You didn't do anything."
She can barely breathe right and she's not sure why. Breathing's easy, isn't it? "Then - what is it?"
"I don't think this is working anymore. For either of us."
Eternities passed before Ally could find a coherent thought in her brain, let alone form words that would make any sense. "What are you saying?"
"It's the distance thing, really," he said, rushing his words, like he wanted to get so much out there but couldn't. "You're busy, and you're touring, and that's great, it is, but there just isn't time for this and I can't treat you right and you can't treat me right and-"
"H-Hang on," she stammered, her whole body shaking in disbelief and just a bit of fear. "You're breaking up with me? Because I'm touring? Because I'm making a life for myself? Because I've achieved my dream?"
"No, Ally, don't do this to me-"
"Don't do this to you?"
"No, please, that didn't come out right. I just-"
"No," Ally said. "No - No is right. You're breaking up with me over the phone. I can't. Goodbye."
She hung up before she could change her mind and burst into sobs two seconds later, right after promising she'd be strong for herself.
Honestly, she just didn't know what to do. Troy was sort of her lifeline, and even if he lived in another world than she did now, he made her feel real. She wasn't just some touring celebrity - she had a life, a home, a family, someone who loved her, someone who knew who she used to be.
Twenty minutes went by before she realized - Troy wasn't her only lifeline.
"Mani," she whispered, before running out of the room she was in - which had turned out to be the kitchen. It was a miracle Camila hadn't come in - passed Lauren and Dinah who were in the main room, before she found Normani on her bunk, headphones on, relaxed. "Normani," she said, shaking her slightly. Ally was slightly worried that she'd upset Normani by disturbing her, but Normani didn't seem mad when she pulled out her earbuds and sat up.
"What is it, Ally?" Normani asked, but Ally couldn't reply. Her words were stuck in her throat and the only thing getting through were sobs, shaking her whole body. "Ally, oh my god..." Normani's arms wrapped around her, warming Ally, warming both of them.
"It's - Troy - he said - distance - gone!" Ally wasn't making sense, but Normani seemed to get it.
"Ally, I am so sorry," she said, but Ally kept crying, she kept sobbing, she couldn't breathe, there was this weight on her chest and she couldn't breathe -
She didn't have to try for long. Without warning, a new pair of lips came crashing down onto hers, soft ones. She was being kissed. And although maybe, if it was somebody else, she would've tried to get away, to escape, but she knew who this was, and she felt safe with her.
Neither of them wanted to pull away, but finally Normani did. "I'm sorry," was the first thing out of her mouth. "Really, I shouldn't have done that-"
"I liked it," Ally blurted out, and she realized she wasn't crying anymore.
"Really?"
"Really."
"Well," Normani said, a smile creeping onto her face, "In that case, I've been wanting to do that for a long time."
Ally found herself smiling too. "I'm glad you did, Mani. I'm really, really glad that you did."
