Cyrus' Fate

Chapter Seventeen
Pan's POV

I opened the door, seeing Cyrus with her eyes narrowed and her hands on her hips. Or maybe she was supporting her back, but either way, she looked pissed. "Care to explain why your shadow decided to antagonize me last night?" she asked as she marched into the apartment.

I raised an eyebrow. "The Shadow's back on Neverland."

"Really? So I was just imagining it staring at me from the window and threatening me and my family? Ok, yeah, sounds reasonable."

I followed her into the living room. "What happened?"

"Sawyer was waiting for it," she said. "I don't know if he called it or what but it was there and it wanted me. When I told it that we had a deal, it threatened to take my son. Explain why."

I shrugged. "Sometimes he takes a mind of his own. I'll talk to him."

She leaned against the wall and tilted her head back. "But why would it be there?"

"How am I supposed to know?" I stifled a yawn.

Cyrus frowned and looked at me. "Did I wake you up?"

"No, I always get up at seven-thirty in the morning," I said sarcastically.

"It's seven-thirty?!" she exclaimed, eyes wide. "Oh my gosh, I forgot to make Jacob breakfast; I thought he was gone. "

She started to stand straight but stopped, grimacing. She took a deep breath as she doubled forward, holding her stomach.

"Are you ok?" I asked.

She nodded, narrowing her eyes. They widened again as she tensed. "No, no," she barely choked out, shaking her head.

"Please don't tell me you're gonna give birth in my apartment."

She sent me a sharp glare. "I'm not ready for that," she said through clenched teeth. She let out a breath, calming down. "And it's hardly your apartment."

"Wait, does that mean you actually are in labor?"

She settled into the chair, staying quiet for a minute as she controlled her breathing. She nodded slowly. "Contractions started last night," she said with a weary sigh. "But I'm good; it's only been a few hours. Not ready to have the baby yet."

"Does Jacob know about that?"

She shook her head. "He fell asleep on the couch and then I ran out this morning, so... I'm gonna go with 'no.'"

"Cyrus--"

"I'm fine." She stood up slowly and started towards the door. "But if you're shadow shows up again, you won't be."

"Because a pregnant woman in labor is so frightening," I said sarcastically.

She shot me a glare as she walked out and into the hall, shutting the door behind her.

I rolled my eyes and shuffled back to the bedroom. A couple minutes passed before I heard yelling from the hallway. I groaned and pushed myself up from my makeshift bed on the floor.

I pulled open the apartment door and leaned out, glaring down the hall. Cyrus stared at me with wide eyes. Her hands were on her stomach and she her knees were buckling. "Oh no," I said, more annoyed than anything.

"Just help me," she forced out.

I let out a breath, running my hand over my face. I all but slammed the door before making my way towards her. "I can't believe this," I mumbled. "Seven-thirty in the frickin' morning."
