It's been six years since I last saw him... since I last saw Samuel. I had no idea where he is but I always had a feeling he's still there, at least in my heart. The cold breeze hit my face as I opened the window, letting the wind come in as whole. I was in Corfu, one of the islands in Greece. It was peaceful here.
I entered a cafe where my friend, Athena who I knew at college. I finished with Arts & Literature so the next step is writing a book. I've gave up a lot of times but I knew Samuel would've wanted me to try again and that's why I'm here, telling myself, at least this is for him.
"Athena," I waved at her. I walked up to her and sat next to her. "Do you like it here?" she asked, she used to praise a lot about Corfu back in college since it was her hometown. "It's so peaceful, I love it." I smiled at her. "Well, remember I told you about AD?" she asked. I shook my head. Before she could say anything, the waiter arrived.
"What would you like to order?" he asked. "Caramel Macchiato please," I answered. "Same," Athena told the waiter. He nodded and left. "I was about to tell you about AD. Perhaps, do you remember I told that he can communicate to the dead." she continued. I stopped her with a huff, "Athena, after Samuel was gone, I looked for all possible ways. Such thing doesn't exist!" I looked her in disbelief about this AD guy.
"Dude, I'm being serious. You should try, at least once." she sounded so confident. I sighed, "Fine, just once, alright? I'll prove you wrong." I said while slurping my Caramel Macchiato. We spent the next hour talking about the places I should visit.
"I guess I'll see you tonight at Anastasios." she waved at me before leaving. Anastasios is the name of the bar where I could meet this AD guy. I grabbed my bags and left for Palaiokastritsa since Athena said it's a very beautiful beach.
...
I was walking on the hot sand while the waves crushed the shore. It made me think of Samuel. It was our dream to go to a beach when we grow older but here I am, alone without him.
I hope you're doing well wherever you are. I miss you, I miss you so much, Samuel.
Tears rolled down as the wind endlessly hit my face. "Watch out!" I heard someone yelled as a pair of hands wrapped around me and prevented me from getting hit my a motorbike. "T-thank you," I quickly bowed. The motorbike drove away without even saying sorry.
"Are you okay?" the guy who saved me asked. I turned around to look at him but I accidentally faced the sun, causing me to squint my eyes. I covered my eyes under my palms and opened the eyes. In front of me was an guy with small eyes smiling at me. "Thanks again," I said. "Are you Korean?" he asked.
Surprised how he found out, I froze for a minute. He chuckled, "I'm Korean too. It's rare to see a Korean here. Are you here for vacation or work?" he asked. I shrugged, "Both, I guess."
"I see, well I live here. It's nice meeting you, I'm Yoongi." he gave me his hand. I took it and shook it, "I'm Seo Eun." I said in a tiny voice. "Were you crying?" he asked, probably noticing my watery eyes. Embarrassed, I hastily wiped it. "I'm not." I lied. He giggled, "If you say so. Anyways, watch out while walking alone like this. Next time I might not be there to save you." he laughed.
I nodded in response. "I gotta go, have fun in Corfu!" he waved as he ran off onto his car which was parked right next to the sand area.
...
I dressed normally since Athena said I didn't need any dress code. "Athena," I smiled at her as I jumped out of the cab. "There you are! I thought you were not coming." she exclaimed as I was fifteen minutes late, thanks to the language barrier with the taxi driver.
We then went down a series of stairs. "Is it underground?" I asked curiously. She nodded, "You'll see, it's one of the most beautiful place I've ever seen." She smirked. Following her lead, I heard loud jazz music getting louder and louder every time we went down one floor.
Finally, I was introduced to the place where the music was coming from. It was pretty dim, the light source only came from the neon fluorescent tubes. but full of people. "You brought a friend!" one of the waiters said to Athena. She nodded, "Where's AD?" she asked. The waiter took a glance around and pointed at one of the tables.
"Cmon," Athena grabbed my hands as we walked up to the table the waiter pointed. "AD!" she called. The guy sitting on the stool turned around and warmly welcomed us. But I was sure I've met him somewhere. Wait, he's the guy that saved me at the beach earlier today!
"Seo Eun ssi?" he looked surprised as much as I was. "You guys know each other?" Athena asked, confusingy. We both nodded. "Yes, I saw him earlier today."
There goes the first chapter, I'm sorry if Samuel is not in yet! I just need to build up the plot till Samuel comes in. Please be patient, garnets~
