“No questions until I’m done, got it?” Dad said sternly. I nodded. “Good. Now it all started when your great grandfather was born. Everybody knew that he wasn’t normal immediately.”
“Wha-” he cut me off before I could finish. Whoops, I forgot. No questions.
“Normally when babies are born they cry, to show that they’re breathing. Not him. He was breathing fine, but never cried. Moving on to when he turned eighteen, he got the power to control time. He could fast forward, or rewind time as if he was watching television. Of course it didn’t exist then, but you get my point. Then your grandfather was born and he could control age, and I, telekinesis. Your brothers, Caine and Caden, can both control air, which is highly dangerous, and how I knew when to come inside. When I found them beating you.” I guess I started to ask a question without realizing it, because then Dad said, “Before you ask, no, I was never thirsty.”
“Moving on, it turns out that the family has some special gene that give us powers when we turn eighteen, and wasn’t activated until your great grandfather. I’m not sure why that is, nobody is, but that’s besides the point. A few years ago, somebody found out about us, and saw us as dangerous to the world. She wants to destroy us to save mankind. Now that I’m done the long story, any questions?” Dad asked with his hands folded in his lap.
“What kind of power will I get?”
“Judging by how mad you were a little bit ago, and the abrupt storm, I’d yours has already developed as water...maybe fire too...but definitely water,” he replies slightly unsure of his answer.
“Then why is everybody missing?”
“Missing?” he says, shock very clear in his voice. He didn’t know.
“When I woke up this morning...the family was gone. Piper too. I looked all over town. Nothing.” I explained. Dad pondered the situation for a minute, then spoke.
“Not sure, a trick maybe?” I wasn't convinced, and he didn't seem to convinced of that himself. I took a deep breath before answering in a calm tone.
“Okay, one last question. Who is the crazy lady trying to kill us?” Dad sighed before answering. This can’t be good.
“Her name is Veronica Franklin.”
Nope, not good at all.
