The day had gone as quickly as it came and Marinette was nervous, she was currently in her room in the palace with one of the workers, discussing the details of the coronation.
"What color would you like the decorations to be m'lady?" asked a black haired female calmly.
"Um, Pink, Red and Black I guess..." Marinette couldn't help but shrug as she worked on the design for a new outfit.
"Alright and that's it for today. Tommorow you and your parents will have to decide on the menu for the after party that everyone will be attending. The day after that, you'll have to decide on your coronation gown and you'll be fitted for the dress on Friday and that should give us plenty of time to finalize everything before the coronation next week."
She informed the bluenette of her schedule for the next few days, though, Marinette wasn't really paying much attention. She gave a simple nod and mumbled an "Mhm..." As a response to the female and she soon left the room, leaving a lonely Marinette.
Back with the others
School had finally ended for the day, much to the relief of the class. The teacher had dismissed them early to give them time to finish packing for the trip.
"Now remember, pack enough clothes for a week at least and don't forget we're meeting here at 7 am to head to the plane that'll be picking us up." She informed the class.
A chorus of Yes and Okay rang through the students as they began filing out of the class, anxious to get back to their homes.
Alya, Nino and Adrien were walking back home together and discussing the events of earlier.
"When we see Mari, she has a whole lot of explaining to do." Alya muttered under her breath as Nino wrapped his arm around her shoulder.
"Chillax alright? Make sure you don't kill her." Nino joked and received a small chuckle from the other two.
"Fine, fine." Alya laughed softly and then, it got quiet.
Awkwardness settled in and the three continued the walk in silence.
After a few more minutes of an awkwardly uncomfortable silence, Adrien cleared his throat slightly, breaking it.
"Are you guys excited to go to China tommorow?" He asked in attempt to start some sort of conversation.
"Yeah, I can't wait to see all the sights!" Alya said with a smile decorated her brown face.
"And rumour has it that we'll be staying in the castle!" Nino added with a smile.
"Oh really?" Adrien raised an eyebrow slightly at his best friend.
"It's just a rumour dude. Who knows if it's true." He said with a shrug.
"That would be so cool though, getting to stay in the palace!" Alya chimed in happily.
"Yeah, it would!" Adrien agreed with a smile decorating his face as he walked.
They continued talking as they walked about the type of clothes they'd bring and what they'd do.
Before they knew it, they had reached Alya's home.
"I gotta go pack some more stuff! See you guys!" Alya waved goodbye as she headed towards her door.
"Bye!" The two males said in synch as she disappeared inside the home.
The pair of friends continued walking together until they eventually arrived at Nino's home.
"Bye dude! See you tommorow!" Nino said with a smile and walked away, leaving a lone Adrien to walk home by himself and he sighed quietly.
The blonde male walked, resting his hands quietly in the pockets of his pants. His green eyes focused down on the pavement below his feet and he hummed gently.
Adrien let his mind wander, first to his excitement about travelling to China, next about Marinette's unannounced disappearance and finally to his mother's disappearance a while back.
A sad expression made it's way into Adrien's features as he began walking a bit faster towards his manor, his blonde hair bouncing gently with each of his movements.
His hands, hidden in the fabric of his clothing, unconsciously balled themselves into fists as his thoughts wandered to the minutes right before she left, on the day she went missing...
"Mom! you promise you'll be back?" Questioned a young Adrien up to his mother.
"Mhm, of course, darling! I'll be back before you know it!" The older blonde assured her son with a smile.
He latched onto her waist and gave it a tight squeeze as he rested his head on her chest.
She wrapped her arms around his and chuckled softly."B-but I feel like something bad is gonna happen!" Adrien pleaded with his mother, trying to get her to stay as sense of impending doom washed over the boy.
"Adrien please, your mother is going to be alright." Gabriel said with a smile as he ruffled his hair and gave his wife a kiss.
He remembered that it was one of the last time he'd see his dad smile before his mom's disappearance...
The older female stood up smiling and hugging them both.
"Take care of him Gabriel. I'll miss you.." She whispered the last part under her breath and left the manor, waving goodbye as the door closed in behind her.Adrien hadn't realized that he had started crying, hot tears began rolling down his now pint-tinted cheeks as he looked down at the ground. A tear drop dripped down his chin, making a small splash against the ground as his lip quivered.
He stood outside his home, frozen in place as his hands clenched themselves together.
Even though he knew Marinette wouldn't just disappear forever...it didn't mean that he wasn't reminded of his mothers sudden disappearance too."Come on...pull yourself together..." The blonde muttered under his breath, slowly releasing his tightly clenched hands and using them to wipe his eyes.
"I gotta stop thinking about it..." He whispered, letting out a breath to calm himself down a bit.Adrien walked into his home silently and made his way into the dining room, being greeted by Natalie.
"Dinner will be ready soon." She told him. "I hope you had a good day at school?"
Adrien gave a small nod and placed his bag down beside his usual seat, turning around to head up the stairs to his room.
"Good evening, Adrien." Whispered the voice of Gabriel Agreste, standing with his hands behind his back.
