*John's POV*
"It's, uh--it's the same as the bracelet Elena gave you," Stefan says to Jeremy.
"So, it protects me from compulsion?" Jeremy asks.
"Vervain is toxic to vampires," Stefan replies.
"You mean like poison?" he asks.
"Yeah, it's very poisonous, it'll keep 'em out of your head," he replies.
"I mean, why vervain?" he asks.
"I don't know, certain natural herbs and roots and natural elements are just harmful to vampires," he replies.
"Like a steak to the heart?" he asks.
"Right, but it has to be wood," he replies.
"How come you don't have any on?" Jeremy asks me.
"Witches can't be compelled," I replied.
"Wait, you're a witch? How? Since when?" Jeremy asks, making me finally notice that no one, including me, has ever told him.
"Yeah, since Bonnie told me, and I don't know how, neither of my biological parents were witches, maybe it's an ancestral thing, I guess," I replied.
"But you're pretty confident in yourself, telling me all the different ways I could kill you," Jeremy says, making me roll my eyes, I hope he doesn't get any ideas. Stefan smiles.
"Jeremy, if I thought you wanted to kill me, we'd be having a much different conversation, ok," Stefan says, making me chuckle a little.
"Yeah, Damon is the one that deserves it," he says, making me look at him sympathetically. I remember my little revenge scheme yesterday, I just wasn't in the right mind at the moment. Damon was just heart broken, which I get, but that didn't give him the right to kill my brother.
"I want you to forget about Damon, all right? He's a hundred times stronger than you, and right now he's not stable, gotta try to move forward," he told him.
"I was killed by a vampire and brought back by a magic ring, how do you move forward from that?" he says, I guess he has a point there.
"Right, well, today we have a nice little distraction courtesy of slave driver, Elena, hello Elena," Stefan says quickly, making me smile, and noticing my sister as she walks up to us.
"Hey, um, do you-" she begins to say but Jeremy cuts her off.
"Yeah, yeah, we set up the goldfish toss, all 300 goldfish, it's gonna be epic," he says, making me roll my eyes. As he grabs my hand and pulls me away.
"Hold on, Jer, I have to go to my locker," I said, and he sighs heavily, a little over dramatically if you asked me. He goes somewhere to sit down, and I go to my locker. I open it and automatically look to my right and see the picture of me and Tyler kissing and it makes me frown. I know for a fact Kenneth did something. It's what Stefan thinks, and it's the only explanation. Tyler says I've said those things, and I don't even remember saying it and I wasn't even there at the time. He's already trying to ruin my life, I can see that.
"What the hell?" I let out, looking at the books in my locker, these aren't my books, they don't even look like school books. I pick up the one on the top. I open in it and I read the name in fancy hand writing and it says Nathaniel SinClair. I open the next page and at the top it read traditional magic. I did the same with the other books and skipped a few pages, they said, dark magic, sacrificial magic, and expression. The one that said traditional, I opened it again, remembering I saw a sticky note. I read the note. (A/N: I don't know how grimoires work so just bear with me)
