Chapter 29

one year passes; mani graduates

Normani's POV

I was scrolling through my computer , seeing that we recorded two songs now. Down and Angel. I smiled to myself seeing all the love they got. I opened my other tab and sighed.

'Sign up for college tuition today!'

I clicked on it.

Graduating high school is really hard on me. I have to leave Dinah here for another year, before I can see her again. We've been together since after my Junior year.

Dinah walked over to me and I closed my laptop immediately. She looked at me funny and shook it off. "Hey baby." She wrapped her arms around my neck and kissed my shoulder, relaxing me a bit. "What were you doing?" She asked me. "Oh nothing, I was just looking at the progress of our songs." I smiled. She didn't believe me, but she didn't ask any further.

"Want to hang out with the three girls?" I asked and Dinah nodded. I texted to the group chat.

Mani: Hey guys , wanna come over?

Ally: Sure!

Lauren: Hell yeah

Ally: Watch your language

Lauren: Shut the fuck up ally

Ally: ...

Camila: Calm down smh , yeah ! i'll be there (:

Lauren: Count me second

Ally: and third!

Mani: okay , see you guys in a bit!

I put down my phone and grabbed snacks and such. "Dinah choose a movie on netflix." She yelled. "OKAY!!!!" I giggled and brought all the snacks out, grabbing many blankets and pillows for the girls. "I haven't seen them in forever, i'm so excited." Dinah said, "Me too."

The girls rang the doorbell, walking in after not caring if I could've been naked.

"Y'allllllll!" Ally yelled. I giggled and we all went in for hugs. Camila saw the food and immediately went to it.

"So how is it FINALLY being a graduate you two?!" Ally asked Lauren and I. "It's so amazing , still kind of stressful because of college but it's still good." They both looked to me. "Yeah it's good." And I walked over to Dinah.

I sat down next to her and she turned on 'Magic Mike'.

"Dinah, you realize only Ally will like this movie?" Lauren said and I giggled. "She's right, all of us are gay except for her!" Camila said.

"PFFFF LEAVE IT ON!" Ally said and we're all shocked. "Allysinnnnnnn!" We chanted. She glared at us and we laughed.

"Soooo, Mani, any college ideas?" Lauren asked me, and I dodged the question. "What do you guys want to watch after this?"

"Mani..." Dinah whispered and rubbed my arm. I shook my head.

As we watched Magic Mike, then 21 Jump Street, we had lots of laughter and snacks, Camila ate like five bananas. We had a good time.

September 2017

Dinah kept mentioning how much she wanted a puppy. So here I am, walking in the animal shelter looking for the perfect dog.

I heard a bark, from a german shepherd puppy. "Awwwww!" I looked at his information. "Jack, 8 months, mixed with a husky." I smiled so big, Dinah would love him.

I grabbed the clipboard and went to the front. "Can I adopt him?" The lady looked at the form and nodded. "He's very energetic but very cuddly. You'll love him." I gave her my money and went to go get him. She gave me a leash and then I drove him home.

I shot Dinah a text when I got to her apartment.

Mani: is the door unlocked?

Dinah: Yeah

I went up there with Jack and walked in, looking for Dinah realizing she was in her room. Her door was open. Jack ran in there and jumped on her.

"OH MY GOD, BABE IS THIS FOR REAL?!" She squealed and pet the dog, and hugging it. I smiled and nodded. "I love you, Dinah." she smiled at me. "I love you Mani." I sat down on the bed and motioned her to sit down too.

"I'm going to Uni in New York." Her face fell but she smiled. "I'm so proud of you. I knew you could do it." She said in a low tone. I frowned at her. "I leave tomorrow..."

"I can't do long distance." She said.

I looked at her, my face dropped.

"What?"

"I love you... but I can't do long distance..."

I started crying and she held me, we didn't move for hours. It was midnight now.

"I guess this means goodbye..." I said, not wanting to let go.

"I love you."

"I'll see you again, I promise." I said.

"Don't make a girl a promise, you can't keep."
