DO YOUR RESEARCH. Do not give your character a disorder without looking it up to portray an accurate representation of it. I can not stress this enough.
People often use disorders like Psychopathy and Bipolar and then describe them incorrectly. If your Oc is supposed to have Bipolar disorder DO NOT say that their mood swings happen over the span of minutes or even days. A mood change lasting a few months is more accurate.
Don't give them a disorder just to make them sound crazier. This is disrespectful. People with mental disorders are not crazy deranged monsters. Do not make it seem like they are, I am dead serious. No sarcasm here.
You don't have to give them a disorder at all, but if you choose to remember the main thing. RESEARCH!!!!!!! Please!
