I wake up to the feeling of jackhammers in my head and nearly fell off my bed from the pain. I tried to message my temple to sooth the headache with no luck.

I groaned as I laid back onto my bed.

Jeremy could hear me waking up and got up rapidly to check on me.

"Hey, you okay?" He asked. His face looked worried.

"Yeah, I'm fine, just a really bad headache," I said to him, trying not to make it seem as bad as it was. I didn't realize he had slept over. In fact, I don't remember a lot of last night after we got back from Payless.

I try to stand and topple over from the pang of pain. Jeremy catches me before I hit the floor.

"Woah, are you gonna be okay?" Jeremy asks with concern.

I wave him off as I stand up. The jackhammer have called down to an aching feeling.

"Yeah, yeah. I'll be fine."

Jeremy looks at me with a worried glance but nods.

"Well, we've gotta get going, y'know school and everything."

I groan in response. "Man, that's unfortunate," I say, shoving my half finished homework into my backpack.

"Your face is unfortunate," Jeremy deadpans.

"Shut up, you dork," I say with a laugh. "Alright, alright, let's get going before we're late."

The car ride was filled with sarcastic comments and bad jokes, the usual.

I pull into the parking lot and quickly find a spot.

"...I'm just saying if you didn't get a slushee everyday, maybe it would be different story," Jeremy says, continuing our car conversation as we walk into school.

Just as I was about to reply, Rich bumps his shoulder into Jeremy.

"Hey, watch it, tall ass!" He yells as he walks past us.

"Ugh, wish I could punch him in the face for what he does to you," I say to Jeremy.

"Yeah, I know, it's whatever...," he replies, I could tell he wanted to change the conversation and spot Christina standing at the end of the hall, talking to Jake.

"Hey, how's it going with Christina? You make a move yet? I know you had play practice yesterday after our gaming sesh."

"Ah yeah, no. That's, uh.... She likes someone else. Jake, actually," he says pointing him out. His mood only seemed to get worse and I mentally kick myself for bringing it up.

"I'm sorry about that dude, it... it really fucking sucks," I say, unsure of what else to say.

"Yeah but at least I still have my best friend," he says, giving me a smile. "Plus, we talked about it, we're good. She made me realize a few things actually. Which reminds me I need to tell you something important later, it's...."

I suddenly felt my headache get worse, losing focus on Jeremy's words.

Calibration in process... please excuse some mild discomfort.

"What the hell?" I exclaim as the feeling in my head explodes. I fall to the floor from the pain and I hear Jeremy call out my name in confusion.

Calibration complete. Access procedure initiated.

"Woah, woah, woah," I slowly stand up with Jeremy's help.

"It's okay, I'm okay. It's fi-"

Discomfort level may increase.

Another series of sharp pains cut me off, making me double over in response.
