Superboy
"Ribs are a cage for
a wild heart"°
Jonathan Kent gazed out across the waters. The sky was blue, hued with colors of the setting sun. But he wasn't focused on the beautiful scenery. His eyes were gazed upon the huge island out in the middle of the ocean. The island and it's buildings couldn't even be seen, because the smog was so horrible. And the green hued barrier that kept the people there, also kept the smoggy air from escaping.
That Island held the worst of the worst Villains, rounded up by Jonathans dad and mom when they became rulers of the world. Superman, Clark Kent and his love, Lois Lane. But that was twenty years ago, and Jon just couldn't help but think about the ones who were born on the Island. The ones left behind.
How they never smelt the smell of real air? Seen stars? Walked on grass? Gone to a normal school? And how they never got the chance to have a normal life?
And who was he to live such a privileged life? While they rotted away, being unnoticed by the world. Seriously. He was being tailored right now in this moment, by his own fashion designer. Wow.
"Sleeve." The man said, as Jon straightened out his back. "Head!" The man stated, turning Jon's head away from the window that showed the Island in the distance.
And as his head was turned to the side, he noticed his parents walking in. The beautiful Lois Lane, and the perfect not so human man, Clarke Kent. Better known as Superman.
"How is it possible that you're going to be proclaimed the ruler of this fine planet next month! You're just a baby!" His father proclaimed, and Jon smiled with a laugh.
"He's turning sixteen, hun." Lois quickly chimed in, coming up to her son as he stepped down and gave her a hug. She placed a kiss on his cheek lovingly.
"Sixteen? Pshh, that's far too young! I didn't make a good decision until I was....twenty nine!"
Lois turned to him with a smile, "You saved the Earth at twenty one."
His loving wife reminded him as she came and stood by his side. Clark looked down with a smirk, "Well it was either that or I'd have to move back to Krypton!"
Jon laughed, rolling his eyes. See, his father always tried to be funny. Which usually ended up in him being not funny, at all. He was his funniest when he wasn't trying to be. And everyone had told him that multiple times, mutiple. And yet, he insisted to make jokes. Like this one, it was supposed to be funny because the Planet Krypton, no longer existed.
Lois however, did not think it was very funny. "I'm kidding!" Superman reassured his wife.
Jon stepped forwards, folding his hands behind his back. He cleared his throat and his gut dropped, "Mom? Dad?" He asked, getting their attention from giggling together lovingly.
"I've made my first decision." He stated, they both looked at him in anticipation. Awaiting what he had to say.
"I've decided, to let the children of Arkham Isle, be given a chance...to live here in United City, and attend Justice Prep! Everytime I look out there, I feel like they've been abandoned!" Jon looked out through the rooms big opened windows again, his eyes trailing down to the Island.
"The children of our sworn enemies? Living amongst us!?" His mother shouted, a stern look coming across the shorter ladies face. And Jonathan knew that look all too well, that was the instant 'no' face.
"We would start out with just a few at first, only the ones that need our help the most!" He pleaded, grabbing his mom's hand and holding it tightly. While his father just listened with wide eyes and an opened mouth. "I've already chosen them." He stated.
Lois pulled her hand away from her son, "Oh have you?" She stated with sarcasm, scoffing as she did.
"Lois." Clark mumbled, putting his hand on her shoulder. "If the people of Earth never gave me a second chance, we wouldn't be here right now."
At this she sighed, thinking that maybe. Maybe, it would be okay.
"Who are their parents?" Clark questioned, smiling at his son.
Jonathan took a long and deep sigh, knowing that the response to what he was about to say was not going to be good.
"Ra's Al Ghul."
They're eyes widened.
"Captain Cold."
They're mouths dropped open.
"Lex Luthor."
Sweat began to roll down their faces.
"And The Joker."
No. No. No. No. No.
"WHAT!?" Lois shouted, remembering all the times she had been kidnapped by villains. Especially by Lex.
"The Joker is the worst villain of them all!" Clark shouted, "And Lex? Our family's sworn enemy?!"
"Please, just hear me out!" Jon pleaded with them, he truly believed in this idea. Two peoples healing.
"No!" Lois shouted, turning around to leave the room in a fury.
"They are guilty of unspeakable crimes, Jon!" His father stated, turning around and following his wife.
"But their kids are innocent!"
At this, both Lois and Clark stopped in their tracks. The former Superman clenched his fists together, before turning around to face his son. Lois turning around and standing next to him, listening.
"I guess the children are innocent." Lois spoke, feeling ashamed of the way she had acted before now.
"Well done, son." The man smiled, winking before all three of them exited together.
There was work to be done...
