Chapter 2: Leave It In The Past

Liara's POV

I was just staring at his amethyst eyes feeling myself getting lost in them. "Hey, are you alright?" I snapped out of my trancelike state saying "Yes, I'm fine just zoned out there for a bit." The pharaoh just looked at me strange then said "Soo... Like I said how's that game coming along?" I could feel myself starting to get lost in his eyes again so I just smiled turning to look out the window at the night sky saying "He should give up for today soon or he already has. I'm not sure." Just then Amanda came up behind me yelling "Roar!" Causing me to jump "Ahh!" She just laughed. "Oh haha very funny Ames." She just stared at me with one of her famous death glares making me back away bumping into the pharaoh. "Oh. Sorry about that." He just shook his head muttering "Can she stop being so darn polite." I then heard Akefia say "I may have lost this game but this is only round one! I shall be back for that amulet and next time I will have the home field advantage!" I gave the pharaoh and Amanda a small smile saying "Right on time I'm glad to say that my timing is as good as ever." 'When it comes to other people at least.' Amanda smiled at me saying "You will never be bested at tag or hide and seek will you?" I just put my right hand to my head sarcastically saying "Hmm... Now that's a good question. I don't know what do you think?" She just said "Drop the sarcasm." Then the pharaoh said "How about you both stop stalling and explain how you know Bakura." I nodded knowing I had to tell half of the truth. "Well first of all I know him not Amanda. I met him a few years back when he tried to stealing my amulet while I was buying food. I didn't want him to get it so I ran off. I just followed my friend Horas who knew the most confusing yet quickest ways to get around the city." The pharaoh nodded saying "So let me get this straight. You know him because he tried to steal that amulet before?" I nodded saying "Yes he did, but I have seen him stealing from other people too that's how he recognized me on sight." Amanda nodded saying "He was quite fond of stealing from our city. At least until the night hawk showed up anyway."

Atem's POV

They both turned to me with shocked looks on their faces. Marianne was about to say something when Seto showed up saying "We had hoped that you wouldn't find out about the night hawk until later sire." I turned to him saying "Why is that Seto?" "We didn't want you to have to worry about two master thieves, but it is strange that this night hawks appearance has had an effect on Bakura's thievery." Then Amanda raised a hand saying "If she may your highness Marianne can answer that." I nodded to her saying "Alright Marianne. What do you know of this night hawk?" Marianne bit her lip saying "Not much other than they keep interfering with Bakura's plans." Seto cut in saying "How do you know this peasant?" "Seto let her finish." She nodded saying "Thank you your highness. And Priest Seto I only know what I've seen and heard. I have heard that they keep stealing from Bakura and give it back to the original owners, but others say they give it to the poor people. The part about stealing from Bakura is true but I don't know what they do with it. And I only know that since I saw them do it once then disappear like a wisp of smoke. But from the fact that the poor people practically worship the night hawk I think that they give what they steal to them. But that's all I know I'm sorry that I couldn't be of more help." 'How is it that she seems to know so much about the night hawk when others can only speculate?' "Thank you for the information. But how is it that you seem to know more when others can only speculate?" "Oh. Well I just listen a lot so I end up learning some stuff." I nodded saying "You are dismissed now. Seto remain here I must discuss something with you." They all bowed and did as I told them. "Seto I want you to tell me the reason you didn't want me to know about this night hawk." "Your highness I didn't want you to now because if you found out you'd have to spilt your attention between the two of them." I nodded saying "Well now that I know about it tell me about their latest theft." He closed his eyes saying "Sire that is the thing they haven't committed any thefts lately. It is as the girl said they disappeared like a wisp of smoke." I nodded saying "You are dismissed. If you need me I shall be in the gardens." He nodded as I left for the only place were I could be alone with my thoughts at this hour. As soon as I got outside that hawk that was with Marianne swooped down taking my millennium puzzle.
