As I walked away, my heart in my throat, I fought very hard not to turn around, march back, and plant a firm kiss on Lance's lips. Heat burned my cheeks as I escaped to my own bedroom, and I curled my fingers into fists at the fleeting thought of Pidge and Lance together instead. Jealousy churned my stomach, threatened to release my half-eaten dinner onto the carpet.
Falling back onto my plush mattress and unfurling my fingers, I placed my gloved hands behind my head as I thought about tomorrow - the day we return to Vox126 and carry out the plan.
My last thought before slipping into unconciousness was simply this:
'Why must he be so...CLUELESS??'

-The Next Day-"Ready, Pidge??" Lance asked quietly as they stepped off the ship together, hand-in-hand.
Pidge nodded, silently assessing the opalescent buildings and the beautiful, bright-blue water sprawled out in all directions from the earth. Lance smiled and turned to gaze straight ahead - at the gleaming palace that housed the leaders of Vox126.
I couldn't help but watch them, wondering if my first notion was wrong - if, perhaps, this were more real than they let show. I couldn't erase the sinking feeling that started in my chest and spread to my limbs, causing my posture to droop noticeably. I couldn't help my heart slowly breaking with each touch they shared, each flirtatious comment they shot at each other. I could barely BREATH as they strode down the walk, Pidge's hand warm in Lance's... and my own so very, very cold without his touch. I couldn't LIVE without Lance at my side. I just couldn't...
