The meaning of love

Chapter 2

Alex is an orphant. His father died when he was 10 years old because of a car crash and his mom died two years ago because of Cancer. It was a really heavy job that he needs to handle when he is still in his early 20s, when all the people at his age can have their fun early adult lifes,  he needs to work in the small company- Clarkson & Co, that his mom left. It was his mom's last words to keep the company going, and he had promised his mom to do it because he didnt want his mom to worry in her last days. She was the kindest women, who cares about everyone so much, so she needed to keep the company going so all the workers who were depending on the company for life  wouldn't be jobless.

Alex's mother, Anne and Lucia's mother, Mary are old bestfriends. They first reunite when Anne was in the hospital. Mary was planning on surpising Lucia as it was her birthday that day, but then she bumped into Anne instead. Soon came the daily visits till the very last days. Mary and Anne once made a childish pinky promise when they were kids to marry their children, so when Mary knows Alex is still single, she found that as an opportunity to continue their plan all along. When Anne  died, Mary started to make a plan to marry them in the future and hoped that Lucia would want to marry Alex. That wasn't the case though, it was only a one sided love, Lucia didn't feel the same way.

Alex smiled again as he remembered the day they first met and how they became closer everyday. He remembered how happy he was when he heard that Mary wants them to get married and how he was was even happier when Lucia actually said yes. It is supposed to be a good ending right? If Lucia loves him and he loves Lucia, they could have a happily ever after just like a fairytale's. The world and reality however, is not a fairytale. You wouldn't hear much of a happily ever after ending between two couples. Oh who am I kidding? There are more divorces then a happy wedding, even for the most couples goals type of couple! It was very naive for Alex to think that way, but he was a lovesick fool, so he obviously couldn't think straight.

The truth of their supposedly fairytale was, Lucia didn't actually love him. Such an interesting, sad and dramatic twist they've got, but don't all stories have plot twists? It's just a matter of good twist or bad twist, and sadly, in this situation, it is a bad twist. But who knows? A bad twist could turn into a good twist and vise versa. Their story may not be ones like cinderella but maybe, they can have a chance at that. You wouldn't know what the ending will be if you don't continue it. Even the most tragic ones like Romeo & Juliet, have an ending where they both can finally be together, even the together is a tragic death, but it's sweet in some ways knowing they both would die for each.

The reality of the situation starts to make its way, slowly, pulling Alex of his fairytale world, as Lucia called him to their bedroom stating she wanted to talk in private. Alex thought Lucia would want to do romantic stuffs or literally anything else, rather than what she was about to say. Out of all the scenarios his brain made, none would face him for the reality.

"I'm so sorry Lex!" Lucia began talking sadly, her head hung low, not able to look Alex in the eye.

"Why love? Why are you sorry for? You did nothing wrong babe." Alex said softly and it made Lucia drown in more guilt and felt even worst.

"I- Alex, I need to tell you something. You will be mad at me but I just- I'm sorry alright. I really don't want to do this to you but I have my reasons" she said and Alex swore his heart beat 1000 times faster

"What do you mean? You're not pregnant with someone else baby are you?" Alex asked worriedly

"No, but-"

"Then I wouldn't have to worry! Thank god. I thought you did something on your bachelorette party and carried another man's child" Alex sighed in relief

"But Alex, hear me out first" Lucia said

"What could possibly be worst than that babe?"

"I-it's worst Alex-" Lucia began nervously before Alex cut her off
