Escape plan
He wore his clothes and was ready to leave. I unlocked my bedroom door to guide him out when suddenly I noticed the alarm was back on and my father was awake. I quickly turned around to face him and give him a look that screamed "trouble in paradise". "What's wrong"? He questioned. "The alarm is back on and dad is awake". I said.
"Place a towel on the panel and turn it off and if he asks why you're turning it off, tell him you had to close your window". I knew that wouldn't work, but I agreed with him anyway. I wore my clothes and walked out of the room towards the control panel. I tarried in front of the panel for about a good 15 minutes, before I got a better idea. There was another control panel in my parents' room so I went in there, closed the door again and placed a towel over the panel like he told me to do. And I punched in the code and turned it off. The noise was almost completely muted.
All of a sudden I saw my mom turn sides in the corner of my eye, so I froze. I felt so anxious and adrenalized at the same time. Shortly after I turned my head a bit to the side to look if she was back asleep and she was. I left the room again and unlocked the doors before I happily ran back to my room. I even did a happy dance as I ran back to my room. I poked my head through the door opening as I did earlier and I looked for him. But he wasn't behind the door anymore, he was lying down beside my bed, fiddling with his phone where no one could see him. "I turned it off, let's go". I said and he followed after me on his tip toes. "Shhh" I warned when his clothes ruffled a bit too much. He then started walking a little slower. I pushed the door open softly and he walked in front of me, but I held him back. "Wait, watch out for the dog. Let me see where the dog is before you walk out on the terrace". I suggested before I walked out on the terrace to see where the dog was. But our dog was nowhere in sight so I let him know that the coast was clear. He walked passed by me, swiftly, just as he did when he first entered the house and he jumped over the fence again with much ease. I waved at him and he waved back with a smile on his face. I went on and closed the door behind me. But the adventure was not yet over for neither of us. I quietly locked the doors again as the sweat literally dripped from my face onto the tiled floor. After I was done I creeped back into my parents their room and repeated the same steps; cover around the panel with a towel and punch in the code. But as I was done punching in the code the muffled noise awoke my mother. She turned around to look at me and I froze again.
"What do you think you're doing"? She questioned.
"I put the alarm in". I simply responded.
"Your father already did that a few hours ago".
"But my window was still open so I turned it off to close my window and now I'm turning it back on". I lied and she bought it. I walked out of the room and sank to the floor against her door to catch my breath. I texted him to see if he was already home and he said that he was still on his way. I asked him what took so long and he mentioned that he didn't call a cab. He was walking back home.
"Are you crazy"? I questioned.
"Chill". He responded.
"It's late, be careful out there". I finally texted.
"Relax, this neighborhood is safe. Nothing bad will happen". He replied.
"Okay, but text me when you're home. I'll stay awake to wait on your reply".
"If I walk hard-and-fast I'll be home in about 20 minutes".
We texted for a little while longer before he sent a picture from home. And after that we exchanged a few more texts and then we both went to bed, exhausted.
