At the start , they all thought it was just a phase but as time went by they realised different . They all knew she wasn't the same as all the other girls so they bullied her . For years they called her names and made fun of the way she looks, she ignored it. She was a lonely being in the huge world we live in , but she was strong , stronger than most. Her name, Elle . Short for Elizabeth.

It all started out when she started high school. She knew she wouldn't fit in but she still forced herself to go. Even though she knew from the start that she wouldn't make friends and people would put her down for the way she is , she didn't care and just got on with it.

*bleep bleep*
Her phone was signalling for her to wake up , the day had come for her to start school . She sat up and took a deep breathe before slipping her petite pale feet into her slippers. She threw on an oversized shirt before stepping out her bedroom door and stepping down the household stairs. She was greeted but her parents and sister at the dinner table.
"Morning sweety, ready for the day? " her mother sat there with a smile under her dark red lips, sipping on a cup of black coffee. Sarah , her mother , stares at her uncomfortably for a few moments for a reply.
Elle smiles and grabs a piece of toast from a plate which laid on a white sheet covering the wooden table before turning around and making a drink. She thought to herself how the day is going to go and she just breathes.

Once she was back in her room she threw off the baggy shirt and popped into the shower. Her bones showing through her skin like rice paper, she looked in the mirror at her pale body before looking at her face and turning to her in the shower. She let the warm water trickle down and off her face before hitting her chest. She washed her hair and face before grabbing the soap and lathering her body , she squinted as she hit a cut but she just continues as if nothing happened. Once the bubbles had washed off of her skin she grabbed a towel for her hair and a towel for her body . She brushed her pearly teeth and washed her face once more.

*bleep bleep* her alarm was signalling that she needed to get ready now . She throws her phone onto her bed which scared Toby , her only friend, her black cat which she found on the streets a few years ago . She apologised to him before slipping into a black dress . She walked to her mirror and drew on some eyeliner and some dark eyeshadow , she put quite a bit under her lid to cover the hollowing bags under her eyes. She blushes the curls out of her hair and stood looking in the mirror. The person looking back was a small pale girl , wearing all dark clothing topped off with a black hat which covered most of her face

"Come on now honey you're going to be late on your first day" her dad called from outside her door , her dad was a business man who owned his own company , he wore a suite and red tie . His hair slick back was more firmer than their family bond. She opened the door and Martin ,her dad, smiled.
"You looked ... uhh ... lovely dear" he smiled in a confused manor.
She knew he was being sarcastic , her whole family don't agree with the way she looks .

Her mother greets her at the bottom of the stairs with a tut .
"Dear , you're going to make a bad impression on yourself looking like that in your first day. Couldn't you wear something colourful like the other girls" she smiled at Elle while holding her little sisters hand. Her sister , Mary , was in her first year of primary school and looked happy as anything , she wore a small blue dress and a pair of black dolly shoes .
"Atleast someone's happy" Elle thinks to herself.

She sits in the back seat of the posh car , with her headphones on . She was preparing herself for the worst day of her life . Elle knew that today wasn't going to go well because if hadn't even been 2 hours of being awake and her family is already complaining about the way she looks. She sighs and looks out the window as all the kids walking In groups. There was the popular ones , the nerdy ones, the bitchy ones, the sporty ones and the rejects . She knew she wouldn't be able to fit into any of them but she honestly didn't care.

"Have a good day honey " those were the words her mother was going to tell her before rushing off to do her own everyday life .

Elle stepped out the car and tightened the straps of her black bag to the point it was almost suffocating her arms. She slowly started walking towards the entrance of her new school. The eyes , they were everywhere , in all directions . Staring . She could feel them on her , it made her shiver uncontrollably. She made it to her first class . She pulled her hat down to cover her face as she could hear all the surrounding people talk about how she looks .

"Emo maybe?"
"Maybe she hails Satan?"
"Not even the rejects would tap that"
"I wonder what her problem is"

She could hear everyone mumbling about her , just because she didn't wear branded popular clothing . She was different and no one would accept that .

"Come along now children , let's get into class"

Elle stepped into the room , still feeling the burn of all the eyes looking at her .

"Molly?"
"Yes miss"
"Harry?"
"Yes miss"
"...Elle"

The room went silent .

She mumbled under her breathe "yes miss"
"Speak up dear"

Elle had never felt so closed in . She spoke again under her breathe , just with a little more force "yes miss" she bowed her head and she could hear the muttering start once again.

*ding ding ding*

Finally .
The day she had been dreading for weeks had finally come to an end. She sped her way through the crowds of kids and rushed home . She just wanted the day to be over until she realised she had to go home and talk to her family about her day. She sighed and stopped in the alley .
This was going to be her life for the next few years .
Was it worth it?
