there we were in the grocery store, the middle of December you wanted chocolate, you were having trouble choosing what type, "dark, white, milk, mint, orange or caramel?" you asked me with a smile, it was so adorable. how you couldn't pick out what chocolate flavor to buy, "I'm serious, what flavor?" i giggled and shrugged my shoulders, i suggested we buy all of them. you laughed, oh that laugh. music to my ears. you called me silly and kissed me, pressed up against the shelves of the gummy bears and chocolate bars, i could feel your cold nose pressed against mine. your lips tasted like mint from the candy cane latte you ordered about 20 minutes ago, you weren't dressed up like usual, no makeup, baggy pants, and one of my sweaters, your hair was a bit ruffled from lying in bed cuddling all afternoon, and it was perfect. and in that moment, i knew i loved you more than anyone I've ever loved. in that moment i knew you were my once in a lifetime.
and yet, all we were doing was choosing chocolates.
