I lean my head against the tree as she approaches. The Lost Boys always went down to the large pond after a hunt, I should know because I started the tradition, so I knew she'd be down this way.
As soon as I see her I want to throw my fist into the the tree's bark wall.
Because she's wearing my clothes.
My green and brown tunic wrapped tightly around her body, accompanied by my sheep skin pants and leather boot, and mine a Peter's matching leather cuff fit snugly on her wrist. Sat carefully on top of her brown curls, was the flower crown the twins had weaved for me a few weeks back.
The anger inside me grows worse, I'm afraid I might snap should she say the wrong thing. She was twirling around my hunting knife, a grin spreading across her fake mouth. If she weren't about to meet up the the boys, I would have punched the ever loving lights out of her.
I'm not even surprised she doesn't notice me when she gets closer. My head tilts towards her, my lips twist into a cruel smirk. "Are you enjoying my life?"
This catches her attention. Her head snaps up so quickly it's a wonder she didn't get whip lash. My smirk only grows colder as her blue-gray eyes widened in surprise. "W-who are you?"
I don't even try to hide my snort. "Don't play that shit with me Carmen-or, should I say, (Y/N)? Oh wait, that's my name." My eyes cut dangerously to hers.
Carmen takes a step back. "I-it's really you? You're (Y/N)? How the hell did you get here? You're supposed to be in the real world."
I ignore everything she just said.
"I want my life back, Carmen."
She looks around the area and then back at me. "You remember?"
"Yes. I remember every thing, that includes knowing about the life you took from me." I can only imagine how sketchy I looked at the moment, a thick black cloak thrown loosely over my clothes, a sword hooked at my hips whilst several other weapons were strapped to my body.
Carmen holds a fearful hand out towards me, "y-you don't understand. I didn't mean for any of this to happen!"
Pushing away from the tree, I make delayed strides in her direction. I let my head roll slightly to the side to examine her face whilst keep my hands hidden within the cloak. "And yet it did. You did this Carmen, now you have to fix it."
"But...I..." Her hair flutters in the wind, make the coffee colored treads seem like waves. "I don't...want to change back."
My eyes narrow. "Too fucking bad. This isn't your life, Carmen. Your life is back in the real world, with your grandfather and grandmother. Mine is with my boys."
"They don't even know the difference-"
"Oh don't they?" I stop a few feet in front of her. "Then tell me why when you walk in to the camp, my name is the first thing rolling off their tongues. Your grandparents are the same. They don't know who I am, they have Carmen." She looks like she isn't moved so I push it a little more. "I've seen you interacting with the boys. We are not the same. Every wrong move you make is another doubt in the boys minds, they know my the way my body moves, they know my voice, my walk, my laugh, my cries, my habits...none of which you have."
She shakes her head and looks away, I felt my anger rise. "Face it (Y/N), they forgot about you just like my family forgot about me."
"And whose fault is that?"
"Mine, and I don't regret a second of it," her eyes suddenly harden and she focuses a glare on me. "Neverland is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Every single one of the boys love and accept me for who I am. They're the family I've always wanted."
I wanted to tell her that they didn't accept her, they accepted (Y/N), but I bit back the remark. So instead I out a fake laugh and look her right in the eye. "Sometimes what we want isn't the same as what we need. Trust me, this isn't your life, you don't want this, you just think you do." I take a peak at my watch and sigh. "Come find me when reality slaps you in the fucking face."
With that I turn the opposite direction and walk away.
I will get my life back.
I will see my boys again.
Carmen has no idea what she just signed herself over too.
I just can't comprehend why she wouldn't want her own life back. She lives with two amazing people who obviously care so much for her and only want her to do good in life. Not to mention, her two best friends, Tegan and Riley are some of the more down to Earth people I've ever had the privilege to meet.
But that's not my reality. My reality is with those amazing boys who light up my world every day and with a loving and supporting leader like Peter Pan, I couldn't have asked for a better life.
I just hope Carmen realizes what she has done before everything comes crashing down on her little fairytale.
A sickly sweet smile slides onto my lips; I knew exactly how to get rid of Carmen. The knife that Peter gave me felt weightless attached to my thigh.
Carmen had better keep her guard up.
