I walked past the blinding lights passing by whilst taking my time lazily strolling across the town.

My mind felt so relaxed.

It had become a habit to take late night walks. With the cool breeze blowing at my face, my own shadow casted on the grounds reflected by the streets lights and of course the crickets chirping in the midst of a deafening silence, it was definitely soothing.

This was just my way of thinking things through when matters got out of hand.

And of course, everyone disapproves.

What kind of woman comes out at night they ask, I scoffed to myself thinking about people's biased opinion.

At least my pepper spray agreed with me.

Not that it came to use though.

Not that I wanted to come across a situation where I had to.

After some time I went back home.

I opened the front door and entered the dark house.

The once beautiful house covered with joyous laughter was now sound asleep.

I walked towards my room whilst checking on each girls room on the way and finally reached my room. As soon as I saw my bed, I jumped letting out an exhausted sigh.

I was tired, both mentally and physically but I knew I had to stay strong for those little flowers downstairs so instead of letting my mind wander I fell into a deep slumber.

"WAKE ME UP BEFORE YOU GO GO-"

I groaned into my pillow.

God just a few more minutes...

"-LIKE A YOYO"

"I'm up!!! I'm up!!! now get out Lucy," I growled at the redhead who was screaming her lungs out.

She grinned like Cheshire cat and opened her mouth and started "I'm your daily dose of sunshine, I'm your -"

"- the first person who's gonna die bright and early on a Tuesday if you don't get out," I finished frowning.

She got out laughing but not before flicking my forehead.

I flipped my finger at her in response.

After changing into a set of fresh clothes, I went downstairs to be greeted by six smiling faces including the one who woke me up.

She's gonna have to sleep with one eye open tonight...

I smiled at everyone including Lucy but not before whacking her head discreetly.

"Good morning Thea!!"

"Good morning Tee!!"

"Good morning Theodore!!"

All the voices chorused their greetings at once.

"Thea can I get a teddy bear for my birthday please?" asked one of the small girls. It was followed by a chorus of can I have's and more pleading.

Lucy exchanged a worried glance with me. She opened her mouth to say something but I cut her out with a hard stare.

"Of course darling "I replied with a small smile.

They were small and didn't need to know anything about financial crises. I'll just have to work double shift.

It wasn't just the teddy bears, there was rent, electric bills, and water bills and don't forget the five mouths to feed along with me and Lucy.

I heaved a sigh and got out of the house and made my way to work.

When I got rejected from almost
everywhere the owner of Cafe Flore was kind enough to hire me and I gracefully accepted the job even though the pay was low because I had to take whatever I was given for the moment.

I was walking on the pavement with my old side bag on my right shoulder. There was a lot of cherished memories held within that bag...

Which brings us to the current situation:

Me chasing a man who just happened to snag my bag and run away.

Oh hell no.

Honestly, this is one of those moments where I just wish that my legs would turn into hot wheels.

I mean is that too much to ask at this very moment?

He ran across the street but me being too distracted...I didn't even bother to check whether the road was clear. And suddenly car tires screeched and I stood there in the middle of the road frozen like a deer caught in headlights.

Just then I heard the sound of a car being crashed.

The car in front of me was crashed by an incoming vehicle. All the while, I stood there just staring at the scene unfolding in front of me.

Just when the passenger door of the front vehicle started to open, I ran in the direction I last saw the thief running.

I mean it's not my fault that the person couldn't measure the braking distance...The guy in the second car should have learned physics before driving it.

Still, it all comes down to me again because the first car dude did no wrong.

And I ran away.

But you had a reason.

I was in a hot pursuit of my own.

They don't know that.

I ran, ignoring the voice in my head until my legs gave away from exhaustion.

There was no use.

He was nowhere to be seen.

I felt so helpless.

If I was broke before I don't even know what to call what I am now anymore.

I made my way out of the lonely alley and headed towards the town but stopped when suddenly a car stopped in front of me.
