julie stepped out of the bathroom to find kitty laying on the bed, her sweater edging up so her stomach was slightly exposed. her eyes were closed, and the sun was hitting her body perfectly.

fuck.
she's hot

julie coughed, signaling to kitty that she was ready to go.
kitty sat up, and smiled. "you look cute. i like it."
julie felt herself start to blush, and quickly covered cheeks with the sleeves of the sweatshirt. "thanks."
the pair headed out of the house together, careful to not wake julie's mom. as they pedaled down the road, they both biked in silence. kitty felt it was comfortable, but julie felt it was awkward and unwanted.
"hey kitty?"
"yeah?"
"y'know how i asked you if you liked anyone, and you said you didn't know?"
"yeah..."
"do you know now?"
"i'm not sure."
"oh. okay."
the rest of the ride was silent.

kitty left her bike on the sidewalk, and julie did the same. together, they walked into kitty's house, and found kitty's family cleaning up from breakfast.
"hey girls! there's leftovers in the fridge, help yourselves," kitty's mom said whilst scrubbing a pan.
"thanks mrs. swofford," julie replied.
kitty took her hand, and led julie to her room. "do you mind staying the night? my mom doesn't mind, and i don't want you going back to your mom's house tonight."
julie felt her heartbeat speed up. "um, yeah, why not?"
kitty grinned. "sweet. do you want something to eat? i can bring it up here for you."
"actually," julie said, "some bacon and oj would be nice."
"got it. i'll be right back." kitty bounced out of the room and into the kitchen.
julie stood awkwardly in the center of the room, trying to think of ways to tell kitty that she liked her without it being too blunt. so that way, if kitty didn't feel the same, it wouldn't be obvious.
lost her own thought, she didn't hear kitty reenter the room.
"julie? i got you some bacon but i think tommy drank all the orange juice. we had a little apple juice left though, so i poured you so- oh, hey, you okay?"
julie smiled. "yeah, yeah i'm fine."
kitty set the bacon down on her bedside table. "julie, you know you can talk to me, right?" she walked closer to her, and julie felt her stomach begin to flutter again.
"i-i..."
kitty was only a few steps away from her, and julie could barely talk.
"julie, please. what's wrong?"
julie took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. "it's n-nothing."
"that's what you say every time. it is something. you mean so much to me, and i don't want you to keep things from me." she stepped closer, and placed her hands on julie's shoulders.
julie felt as if her heart was going to burst out if her chest. "i-i can't tell you k-kit kat," she stammered. "s-sorry."
kitty leaned a little closer. "don't be." her words came out in a hushed tone, and it only made julie more nervous.
"b-but i am. and i want to tell you but..."
kitty cocked her head to the side. "but what?"
julie gulped down her anxiety as best as she could, and cleared her throat. "but i'm scared that you won't want to be my friend anymore if i tell you."
"please?" kitty's face was only inches from hers, and julie had an idea. it would either make her day or break her friendship. either way, she knew she needed to get it off her chest.
"kitty, i-" she stopped.
"julie?"
julie leaned in closer, so close that she could hear kitty's breath. she let out a sigh, and soon her mouth was centimeters from kitty's.
"a-are you going to kiss me?" kitty asked, her voice soft and breathy.
julie looked into her eyes. as if they were in a cheesy chick-flick, julie nodded.
kitty closed her eyes. "okay." she whispered.
the door flung open the moment before julie's lips touched kitty's.
"KITTY DID YOU DRINK MY APPLE JUICE?!" tommy screamed.
kitty and julie lept back simultaneously. "tommy, did you ever hear of a thing called knocking?"
tommy scoffed. "well... i don't give a fuck."
"tommy! language!" kitty huffed.
"fuck you kitty!" he yelled, before bowing and leaving the room, slamming the door behind him.
the girls looked at each other for a moment, then burst out laughing.
"to be continued?" kitty giggled.
"sure."
