"I can't believe you're dragging me out to this bar," James sighed, leaning on the door of the car, staring out at the road as Thomas' drove. "If you abandon me for this guy I'm calling Aaron to pick me up."
"Oh quit whining Jem, you'll be fine. I don't even remember what this guy looks like, who knows what his personality is like. And you could just ask your boyfriend to join us, I'm sure he'd come if you asked him," Thomas chuckled as James' face flushed a deep hue of red.
"He's not my boyfriend!" James said in a defensive tone, crossing his arms.
"You could ask him to be," Thomas suggested, raising an eyebrow. James rolled his eyes, making Thomas sigh in disappointment. "James, you've had a crush on Aaron for years, just ask him out already."
"Thomas you know I can't do that," James muttered as Thomas pulled into the parking lot of the bar. "Great, we're here. Can we stop talking about Aaron now?"
"For now," Thomas said with a smirk as he pulled his keys from the ignition. The two got out of the car, rushing into the bar, both eager to get out of the cold air. Thomas looked around as he entered the bar, audibly gasping as his eyes landed on the two bartenders. One was big and muscular, Thomas figured that wasn't John. John's voice seemed too cute and soft to belong to a man of that stature.
Then Thomas saw the second bartender and he couldn't help but blush for he realized, the guy was beautiful. He had a freckle-covered face and a relatively thin frame. He had brown curly hair that was pulled into a messy bun that was struggling to stay together. "Wow..." Thomas mumbled, stopping in his tracks. James looked up at him, seeing Thomas' awe-struck features. "He's so cute," Thomas said under his breath absentmindedly. James nudged him with his elbow, bringing Thomas back to reality.
"Tom, go talk to him," James insisted, giving Thomas a slight push. Thomas nodded, approaching the bar.
"John?" Thomas asked, trying to grab John's attention, the man had his back turned to him, that is until he heard Thomas' voice. John turned around, nearly dropping the half-filled drink as his eyes met Thomas'. "Hi," Thomas gave John a shy smile.
"Hey," John mumbled, topping off the drink, handing it to a guy behind him. "I didn't think you'd show up."
"I'm glad I did," Thomas remarked, earning a blush from John.
"I see you're j-just as m-much of a flirt when you're s-sober," John stammered, chuckling lightly. "I'm glad you did too, I-I can't lie, I really wanted to see you again." Hercules leaned on the counter, giving Thomas a once-over.
"This the cute guy?" Hercules asked, raising an eyebrow. A cocky smirk was apparent on Thomas' face from Hercules' question a she glanced at John. "Mr. Hottie?"
"I hate you, Mulligan," John said, burying his face in his hands. "Thomas, meet my best, and annoying friend, Hercules Mulligan. Who's this?" John asked as James approached, clinging to Thomas' side, giving nervous glances at all of the drunk men in the bar, feeling anxiety kick in.
"Oh this is my friend James," Thomas looked down at James. "Jem, you okay?" James shook his head, squeezing Thomas' arm. "I'm calling Aaron, okay?" Thomas pulled out his phone, dialing Aaron's number. "Hey man, could you come to the bar to pick up James? He's not doing so well," Thomas said as Aaron picked up the phone. He heard Aaron say he'll be there in a few, and Thomas hung up. "Jemmy, Aaron's gonna be here soon."
"Is he going to be okay?" John asked, glancing at James, who seemed to be getting more tense and worried by the second.
"He'll be okay," Thomas nodded, wrapping his arm around James' shoulders, trying to console the shorter man. "His boyfriend will be here soon-"
"Hey, get me another beer, whore!" A rowdy man from across the bar yelled, the request, or rather, the command directed at John, who just sighed, ready to get the man another drink before Thomas cut in.
"I don't think you should talk to him like that," Thomas yelled back, crossing his arms.
"Thomas, it's fine," John said, handing the guy a drink. Thomas shook his head, walking around the bar, standing before the rude man. He was reasonably tall, but not nearly as tall as Thomas. He had short black hair, and a douchebag-looking expression.
"And who are you to tell me what to do?" The guy asked with crossed arms.
"Well my name is Thomas, and I have enough decency not to call a hard working guy a whore, that's who I am," Thomas stated firmly, raising an eyebrow as the smaller man puffed out his chest, most likely in an attempt to make himself look intimidating.
"I'm Charles, and I think you should step down. I could throttle you right here, right now," Thomas rolled his eyes, looking to the scrawny guy sitting close to Charles. He had short auburn hair and he looked shy compared to Charles. The two were holding hands, making Thomas smirk.
"Are you his boyfriend?" The auburn haired boy nodded meekly. "Well I'll tell you right now, you could do a lot better."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Charles barked, poking Thomas' chest.
"Well you're kind of an asshole so-" Thomas was cut off by a fist clashing into his face. The bar went quiet as Thomas reeled back, processing what just happened. "Charles, I've got to tell you, you're a bad decision maker," Thomas growled before socking Charles in the nose, earning cheers from some of the crowd. The rest booed, and it was like hot hitting cold, stirring up a tornado.
Cheers turned into chants, and chants turned into utter chaos.
It was all a blur, fists flying, a brawl breaking out in the small bar. Thomas seemed to get the worst of it, receiving punches left and right until he blacked out. He last thing he saw was John rushing towards him before total darkness consumed him.
