November 9 ~ Autumnal EquinoxTHE BUSTLING city street was slowly dispersing at the first onslaught of drops that fell from the heavy grey clouds hovering above the vast expanse of land.
I focused on my footfall upon the ground, occasionally avoiding puddles and glancing up every now and then. Pitter patter, the rain sang a cacophony of drops as it landed on surfaces, skins and fabrics.
I blew out a breath as I walked down the slowly dampening pavement and weaved my way around the campus before I reached the main field. I didn't mind the light drizzle for I hardly even felt the particles dropping onto my skin although I knew that it would get heavy later on.
Reaching the football field, I ducked my head as players and athletes passed by me on their way to cover for shelter as others headed straight for the locker room. I sat quietly at the edge of the bench and scanned the seemingly colossal area from my view for a certain hazel-eyed boy but couldn't seem to spot him anywhere. I saw some of his teammates hollering and shoving on their way to exit the space and I realized then that practice was over and I was right on time.
I craned my neck but could not see him anywhere. Where was he? I was so sure that he'd be here...
There he was, looking good as ever. He was crossing the field, hair damp from shower with a few of his mates beside him. He was laughing with that familiar grin taking over his features.
I stood up and made my way over to him hesitantly. He raised his head and instantly, I was struck by those dazzling eyes that captured my gaze in his; so mysterious and filled with mirth. He beamed upon seeing me and seemed to mutter something to the guys before making his way over to me.
I waved my hand awkwardly and faltered my steps when he came barreling towards me and had me in his embrace. "I didn't think you'd come, love."
He released me from his hold and I replied with,"Why wouldn't I?"
"I know you have a shift today at the library and I didn't know if you'd come especially with the weather."
"I finished early. Sammy's mother came to pick her up early for an appointment with the dentist so I had to cut our tutoring session short. Dan was sick, Sally's out of town for the week and Denise finished quickly— such a bright young girl." I commented, hitching my bag up higher my shoulders to keep it from falling.
Caden smiled,"That's good." He dried up his strands before shoving the towel inside his bag. He shook out his hair and I chuckled, swatting him away as a few drops landed on my eyes. I shoved him playfully, "You act like such a dog sometimes."
He looked at me and gave out a crooked grin. "Ah," he tsked teasingly, eyebrows wiggling."But still yours, nonetheless."
I blushed, ducking my head from his view. Even though we'd been together for almost three weeks now, I still can't seem to be immune to his charms and the meanings he insinuate every single time we're together.
We were the only two on the field by now as we strolled leisurely in the midst of leaving. "So how was practice?" I causally asked while scratching my arms.
"It was great, actually. Coach praised the team for our continuous effort and determination. Ashton is rowdy as ever, Grayson's pushing his limits as always and Noah's been improving lately. Isaac," he shook his head and sighed. "Well... he's Isaac, I suppose."
